Thumbs up Best 2nd Gen, now you can vote. :)

Ok, trying this again. Zigged when I shoulda zagged.

Lets get 2nd Gen specific. Poll reflects (I believe) reflects every model 2nd Gen Mazda produced. I included the Turbo Vert even though they weren't imported to the US as the TII retro-fit is so popular it's almost like they finally were.

S5 TII this car has been better than my '91 N/A in all aspects - including maintenance. The performance is in a different category. vvVVVOOOOSSHHH....seeya

S4 TII:
NO Mousebelts
Less Weight
Better LSD
Better Taillights (Thunderchicken Tailights are about as gay as Altezza's)

Banzaitoyota: I thought that a S5 LSD was much better than a S4?? Anyway, Im kinda torn between a S5 and S4 T2. I like the S5 styling better, like the instrument panels round gauges instead of the wedge S4 ones, and I do like the taillights more, but those damn seatbelts really suck.

the s4 is better in terms of performance. but I bet every one is worn out by now and not working very well.... the S5 ones will last forever.

I'm pretty partial to the '86 GXL 2+2 (although I got rid of the +2 part . I like N/A rotaries because of the UNBELIEVABLY smooth power delivery, and the sound too! To me the rotary sounds like (both T2 and N/A) a little ferrari V6 when revved (just listen to a F355 again) and since they're my favorite engine builders (to bad they don't mess with rotaries...oh GOD the thoughts!), that seals the deal for me.

Series 5 Turbo II is the best in my opinion, as soon as I can find one I don't have to dump a shitload of money to get running, I'm buying it. It looks better. And I love the tail lights. One of the sweetest looking cars I've layed eyes on STOCK. Body kits on a S5 ruins it, I think. Except maybe the re Amemiya kit (but mainly becuase of the light conversion).

Can the light conversion be done and still maintaining the the stock front end (or front end look)?

S4 NA all the way, especially the Sport & GTU. They are affordable, light, and fun to drive - the original concept of the RX-7.

If you're going to include the Turbo II Vert.. why not add the Infini II, III, and IV? Those would be the BEST 2nd Gen RX7s. But from the choices, I'd stay with the S5 Turbo II.
