I'm thinking about dropping a TII in my S4 vert. I'm just wondering if I was an S4 or an S5 engine... I still have (crosses fingers) about 70k more miles before I have to consider it. Turbo convertibles are awesome, and I hope I'll have enough money and time to eventually have one

S4 TII,
it has lower compression than the S5. the rotors weigh a little more, but its good for inertia and strength. S4 has alot more little problems like wiring and clutch. But they are all easy fixes, and you can redo them better than s5's anyways. Its a tuner car, the S5 is for people who dont like getting their hands dirty.

also, for that guy who said he likes the s5 for its more modernish styling, guess what, your car isnt modern. I like a car that represents what it is, not what it wants to be. The S4 TII is an 80's sports compact.

So why the hell does the S5 TII have over twice the votes than the S4 TII? I guess people like an ECU controlled OMPs, mouse belts, and more weight.

The question should be why the GTUs was isolated from the rest of the S5 NA's. If you will notice, this was the only mention of a specific trim type that is not a unique VIN model. I think the GTUs was added because of all the hype behind it.

No, they mostly just like the looks of the tail lights, and the higher-performance engine. BTW, if you want to gripe about the S5, you forgot to mention the dead-feeling suspension bushings and the lousy viscous LSD.

S5 TII is the best thats why my N/A is gonna be a turbo soon. S5 TII is the more improved version of the S4. Why would they make a car weaker? Its only common sense the 5 series is the new improved version of the 2nd Gen. And FC's aren't that great lookin as a convertible. Thats why the Miata MX-5 took the spotlight for Mazda convertible. RX-7 is the sportscar of Mazda.

There were some things in the s4 T2 that is still considered to be just a bit better over the s5. The mechanical metering Oil Pump, the LSD, and the fact that it was lighter makes me prefer the s4 over the s5.
The lower compression rotors in the s4 also allows the s4 to run more boost than the s5.

But appearance-wise, no doubt that the s5 takes the cake.

I believe that my car is the best, but then again, its my car... plus im bored and dunno what im saying..... but I bet yall got nice cars and I havent seen an rx7 yet, that I cant stand.... although some are a lil questionable.... anyways I make it a point not to hate on anyones car, cus they paid for it, therefore they make the decision on what they, do and dont like, on their OWN cars..... and theres alot of you out there that hate on other peoples cars, yet yall dont got anything out of this world either...
Anyways good luck to everyone, and happy modding.... or if you are like me, good luck on your cars and especially motors.... I already dished out almost 2g on a block and its still in pieces..... anyways I shouldnt be talking all this ****, im just drunk...(payday )

Well heres my baby....

ok first of all, the mx5, cannot compare to the rx7 vert...
So why dont you tell me how they are even remotely comparable???? manual top, with a piece of **** build quality, the top is made of like 1/2" aluminum pipe.....alot smaller in size, none of the features offered on the rx7 vert at all..... we got the wider stance, longer wheel base, better build and dont look like a clown car.... plus we were the closest thing to a hardtop convertable, untill recently..... and all of that in 88??? plus if they came how they were intended, with the turbo motor, that **** would be a dimepiece.....
I agree, the coupe has a sleeker look to the body, but nothing can compare when you have targa up, or top completely down..... so please, untill you seat in an mx5 and then sit down in the rx7 vert, dont speak... and my sig again, for all you haters....

I won't exacty pick the one I own because it's causing more trouble than need be right now. But, I have to say a S4 with an Efini swap. If all goes well thats what I will have . Now, if were talking about cars with conversions. For higher hp numbers ill have to say the S5 Skin & Interior, with S4 underskin, & a Cosmo 20B

Well I'd say its simple: S4 is better than S5 cuz their lighter which is nice, and they don't have thunderchicken (or as my friend calls um "chickenfucker" - straight from super troopers) taillights
And NA is a lot more fun than Tii. Do a na/turbo conversion if you want... But I prefer an amazing fuel system and doing some work to the intake manafold... Then you have a powerful car. My car used to sound like it had a HUGE supercharger when the 3-6th ports came on i did some work to um LoL... On another car, I don't know how but I managed to create BOOST in the primary ports... and I have a FCD now hehe... NA's are so much more fun.... plus a 10- or 12-second tii is cool, but a 10-12 second NA is... amazing...
