Are you going to run a 3-BAR MAP sensor on a stock ecu?? If so, can that be done??

I have a 3 BAR MAP on my Wolf computer if that helps, but never heard of anything else like you explained Brad

no...I have thepower fc...and i use a profec b to control boost.

the only thing at this point keeping me from running the boost I want on the m2 gt30s is a 3bar map sensor.

GM makes a 3bar...I think its from the grand national if Im not mistaken...

I need to know what i need to install it...what other componants are necessary.

thanks for the help

That's all you need. You should post this in the Power FC section as people there will be able to provide you with the correct scale & offset for the Option 1 in the PIM table...

You should have about $100 in the sensor and connector. Sensor #16254539, and conn.#15305891.

cewrx7 chuck asked this question...figured Id post it in here...

My main question is; does the GM 3 bar sensor "boost to voltage mapping" match the Apexi 3 bar? If not then the PFC mapping will have to be changed to "READ" true to the GM unit. Otherwize, the PFC will read boost incorrectly!

Do you they usually keep those in stock?

Also, in order to make this work isn't it true that the base maps in the PFC need to be changed. Can you use the # bar sensor without the datalogit?

Guys like I said before as once you hook it up all you have to do is adjust the pim/offset settings on the setting 3 of the FCedit software that comes with the datalogit to;

scale: 41800
offset: 0

If you don't have a datalogit then you don't know what I'm talking about. I really don't think you can adjust this with just he commander. You may but I don't really remember. All this is doing is calibrating the Power FC to read the GM 3bar map sensor without having to adjust any of your other setting. Now if you want to go higher than 19# of boost you will have to adjust the N settings in the FCedit. Join the FCedit newgroup on yahoo and it will give you all this info and more.

No they are not usually in stock due to only fitting 86-87 Buick turbo cars. Most GM parts are overnight delivery, if the regional warehouse has it.

The grand national i believe only comes with a 2 bar.

The GM car that came with a 3 Bar is the Turbo Trans Am. The Gm part number that i have always used is 16040749.

And the cheapest i have ever been able to get them was from GMpartsdirect for $49.

SilverR1,

So you can run more than 19# of boost without sending the unit to XS ? I was told by XS that the max boost the original PFC software can do is 1.4 bar(19-20 psi). They said although the 3 bar map sensor allows you to break 17 psi stock map sensor limitation, you still need PowerExcel software to tune for more than 20 psi.
Is that correct ? Are we able to change the 20x20 pressure map using this FCedit that you're talking about ? Thanks,

btw..the connecter part number for the 3bar is 12085502. The number posted earlier (above) is for the two bar.

you can search on google for these part numbers and get info. That is how I checked.

Jodeny,

Your answer can't be yes, yes, and yes.
First q is if we can run 20+ psi with PFC without sending unit to XS. Second is if XS is right. And third is to verify the first by going into detail. So, do you mean yes, no, and yes ? Or is FCedit does the same thing(modify 20x20 pressure map) as PowerExcel ? If it does, my mistake. Just want to clarify.
Thanks,

you have to modify the 20x20 pressure map yourself using the fc edit in order to tun more than 17 pounds(and have a reading on the map sensor.)
