Talking Blew up the stock rear end today *PICS*

...and trashed it so well, figured you guys would enjoy the pics.

First off, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, just didn't think it would be this soon and on such a fairly "easy" launch. I think I may have cracked the PPF earlier on as it started to get some nasty wheel hop on the next couple runs(never had any wheel hop problems before with the car at all). Just kept pushing it though since this was pretty much the last race of this season, plus I needed something to tinker with over winter anyways.

-Stock suspension/bushings(58k mi)
-KG Parts diff brace
-BFG Drag Radials(I know, I know, I had been planning on switching over to ET Streets next season anyways)
-Attempting to 'pre-load' with the e-brake
-330-340ish rwhp

It doesn't look that bad, just needs a little JB Weld...

Perfect time to put in 4.3 gears.

Wow, that's scary that that can happen without making a ton of power. Is your tranny manual or auto?

Ouch, swap those radials out for a bias ply and you'll be much better off.

Wow, if the case broke instead of the gears, then I think either the PPF was broken or something else in the mounting of the case was.

With better slicks I bet it would have broken sooner . . .

Good luck,
:-) neil

PS: if you're drag racing, perhaps it's time for a Cobra diff . . .

didn't somebody else with a KG style brace destruct the case like that as well? or similarly anyways. Not saying it was the brace that caused it. I think the PPF led to hoppage which led to breakage., Impressive work...good job!!

If you have a kaaz in your car,..chances are your car is so damn loud anyways you wouldn't hear the grinding/notching. At least mine is.

If the noise of the kaaz bothers you, you probably have it set up incorrectly. It really doesn't make that much noise.

Blaine/Lino sure glad you guys were there and Chuck too for hanging out with me until the truck showed up! Thanks again!!

Still looking at options, was just gonna pick up a case and throw a T2 diff in, maybe axles while we're at it. The Cobra setup is nice but $$$, we'll see tho. I'll post status of the PPF once it's off, may be a little bit tho because of work/holidays.

'looks like the Torsen failed and took out your case. i suggest you find a T2 LSD which is happier drag racing. Torsens are for road racing. of course the wheel hop overly stressed the Torsen.

+1, Agreed. Wheel hop = shock loading = eventual failure
