Just gonna drop the entire subframe out. Howard appears to be right though... looks like the torsen caused it... PPF is perfectly fine, no cracks.

Passenger side/rear

Better pic from the drivers side, that crack extends all the way up and over the case.

Split torsen, trashed ring gear

Moral of the story... if you're cutting 1.7 short times on the stock rear you better have a trailer on stand by because your luck will run out sooner or later.

I have seen a lot of them blow apart like that. It doesn't matter what you bushings are like or what you have bolted to it. They almost always blow up like that.

Just put a cobra rear end in it. You will never have to worry about blowing it. I had a turbo II rear in my FD but I was still always scared it would break(440whp). But with the new cobra cradle you will never have to worry. Also ford sells probably 20 different gear ratios for it as well Mine is a 3.55. I love those long gears. Helps with the traction in first.

yep, the case is the weak point, not the differential gears/carrier iteself. a Kaaz/Cusco won't cure this issue, only reinforcing the case or swapping in a beefier diff.

you can see how thin the walls are around the case, it can only take so much abuse before it completely explodes such as this.
