electrical fab questions

hi,

i have a 87 TII and are soon to install a FMIC and are currently instaling a 16" electric fan, i was wondering where was the best place/easiest place to relocate the battery. Also where was the best place to connect an electric fan so that it comes on when the key is on. thanx again.

stock clutch fan is ugly but it flows the most air...

relocate the battery to the driver side storage bin.

look for the green plug near the driver's side shock tower for a switched +12V ignition source. You will need to wire in a relay though. Don't try to power the fan with a 20 gauge wire....

the "box" is going to be for a subwoofer setup, i want to free air (magnet in the air) a L5 or L7 12" subwoofer with the magnet just about inbetween the seats. i think that'll look sweet.

ReTED has a battery relocation How-To on his website:

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/BATTRELO/battrelo.html

He uses two breakers which I personally think is overkill, but if it makes you happy then go for it.

Don't be cheap and/or lazy. If you're going to do it, do it properly. The fan should be powered directly from the battery via a fuse and relay, with the relay controlled by a thermoswitch. There are no advantages to running an e-fan all the time, only disadvantages.

^thats true, you wire in the fan all the time and your alternator will barly keep up with the electric fan and the car itself, let alone a sound system on top of all that!
