Please review those threads before asking any questions, and if your questions remain unresolved, post them there and I will do my best to answer them there (not here, unless I deem it important to do so). The only questions permitted here will be related to the actual Group Buy, such as payment, shipping, availability, etc.

This group buy is for a fabricated, powdercoated black, steel alternator relocation bracket that fits 1st gen (SA & FB) and 2nd gen (FC) RX-7s, except 83-85 12As with the air/water oil cooler. It relocates the alternator to the lower, driver's-side of the engine, where Mazda put the Power Steering and A/C pumps. There is no version available that permits the use of either of those luxuries, so please don't ask! Again, this bracket is incompatible with A/C and/or Power Steering; if you want one, make it yourself.

Price will be $50 for the basic bracket with fasteners and $15 additional for a heim-jointed turnbuckle tensioner. You may easily make your own stock-like flat tensioner by pounding the stock one flat, cutting it shorter and drilling a hole.

23 brackets and 10 turnbuckle tensioners are available for the Group Buy. The brackets are ready to ship, but I'm still waiting on one of the bolts (M12x1.5x25) and the rod ends (heim joints) have not arrived yet for the tensioner. Everything should be here by this time next week, so I am proceeding with the sign-up phase of the Group Buy.

The bracket comes with two (2) M10x1.25x25mm hex head bolts, one (1) M12x1.50x25mm hex head bolt, one (1) M8x1.25x30mm socket head bolt, and two (2) 3/8" thick front cover spacers. The tensioner will consist of two rod ends (one right- and one left-hand threads), two jam nuts, a hex-rod adjustment barrel, and one more M8x1.25x30mm bolt. The belt is not included, but you can source one locally from any autoparts store. The size that has worked well for us is a Gates XL 7370 (11A0940), which is 3/8" x 37-5/8" (9.5/10mm x 955mm). Depending on your pulleys, you might need a longer or shorter one. You should already have a basic electrical kit to extend the appropriate electrical connections. If not, you should either get one or wait until we come out with an electrical extension kit (soon).

To make sure the serious people get top position in line, we will require a $10 deposit per bracket to confirm your spot. This deposit applies to the purchase (obviously) and is refundable only in the event that we can't fill your order (e.g. too many orders, not enough parts). Those that back out will lose their deposit. Paypal your deposit to the account of <sales@pineappleracing.com>. Be sure to indicate the desired quantity of both brackets and tensioners. Note whether you still want the bracket if the tensioner is sold out. Also put your RX7forum screen name in the Paypal payment comments field, so we can keep track of who's who.

To answer another question, the final payment will be when the items are ready to ship, which should be mid-to-late next week (wed, thur, fri). If there are any further delays with things like fasteners or rod ends, I will give you the option of just shipping what I've got minus those items or holding the order until it's all here. Those that pay a deposit will hold their place in line, regardless. You will have a couple weeks to complete the transaction, once it's ready to go, before you lose your place in line and the deposit. Shipping will probably be by USPS Priority Flat Rate Box, at $7.70 anywhere in the USA, unless I find a cheaper/easier way. International orders will require calculation of shipping and a small handling fee (a buck or two) to account for the added time and paperwork.

Let me quote a recent reply to a similar question:

"I can't say I have tested the setup, but there is no reason I can think of why it would not work. Anything that can be bolted to the stock WP mount can be bolted to this relocation bracket, and there is plenty of room for clearance. If, for whatever reason, it doesn't work, I will refund the price of the bracket minus shipping if you return it in the same condition you received it in. It looks like we're going to have more demand than supply, so there won't be a problem re-selling it. Or, I suppose you could sell it again yourself and maybe even make a profit, presuming we are sold out and people are waiting for another batch. Basically, the risk is yours, but it's a small risk (at worst, you're out the cost of shipping), and if it works, you will be a pioneer!"

 

12 deposits taken, so far (10:30 AM, Thursday July 7th), so more than half are already gone after 16.5 hours.

One person paid in full, but let me assure you that you will not lose your place based on the order of final payments. The deposit gives you a spot and the final payment must then only be made in a reasonable timeframe (a couple weeks, after they are ready to ship) to keep it. I'm only taking deposits to make sure of those who are truly serious and, thus, deserve priority.

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on an FD with the FD alternator? I have removed, PS and A/C. I also only have a single front pulley.
If so, I'm all over this! If they are ready to ship, could you ship via a FedEx and bill my account? I need it for Rotorfest this weekend.

Okay, we're up to 14 brackets (out of 23) and all ten tensioners have been spoken for. Anyone else who wants a tensioner will be put on a waiting list while the additional parts are ordered (I'm ordering another ten sets of rod ends today). Those that want both bracket and tensioner, from this point forward, will have the option of getting the bracket and tensioner shipped separately, or having the bracket held until the tensioner parts come in. Regardless, once you pay the deposit, you are assured of your place in line on the brackets; "holding out" for the tensioner won't make you lose your spot.
