This question Is coming up as much as NA>TII conversions lately.

Just so you know, It will require alot of fabrication work to mount 3rd gen seats Into your car. You can't simply swap seat rails. The rail mounting locations on the 3rd gen seats are closer together than that of the 2nd gen seats. Good luck.

My only worry about doing this would be the conversion brackets that you would have to make might bring the seat up to high. Causing headroom clearance issues, especially with a helmet. But if you can find a good metal shop fabricator they might be able to build a bracket that will not do that.

I've installed the 240zx seats in my GXL.

It was fun .....I had to drill new holes in the floor, because they are somewhat narrower than the original seats.

for FD seats I really didn't have a chanse to see them up close...

measure everything before you start drilling

TII seats are more comfortable and look better in the car.

sell those and buy TII seats.

they also bolt in :P

just came up with an idea....get 1/8" rigid metal sheet from home depot...cut it to a square to fit under the FD seat...drill holes in the plate where the mounting holes in the seat...screw the plate to the seat using those holes...then drill holes in the metal sheet where the stock FC rails are to be mounted...mount them to the sheet (at this point the sandwich looks like this...fd seat-metal plate-stock FC rails)...then mount the seat with rails attached to the floor in the stock mounting locations...the time it took me to read this post is how quick I just came up with that...you can even just cut the sheet into a rectangle to the size just to fit where the mounting holes on both sides are...let me know how my idea is

here are some pics of my mounts. seat is in the car. but i might reverse the mounting postions from front to back. the seat is still little to foward and its moved all the way back. see what happens then. i might remove the cross bars i installed. not sure yet going to play with it some more.

OK, you've made a start on the easy side...what's the plan for the passenger seat?

That looks like it is the passenger side (note the flattened mount at the bottom of the 2nd to last pic)

whats a 240zx?
cross of a 240sx and 240z or 280zx?
just makes me think of the 240sx with the 240z front fenders, hood, etc.
looks nice.

here the pics from the first mounting points. notice the seat is all the way back its not reclined just pushed back to the first position. and still very foward. notice the gap behind the seat to the cage. not much leg room to the front either.

now these are the pics of the new mounting postion. much more foot space in the front. and much closer to the cage when all the way back. much better and didn't raise the seat much maybe 1/8 inch. maybe little more than that but good all together.
