I just got a 1993 RX-7....
Until you have a boost gauge (then pattern), any help would be a guess.
Besides, if you are taking it back to Mazda, they will likely screw something else up, so the problem will change.

well...
Yeah it's Mazda, maybe I should go to a RX-7 specialist huh? There is a place down the street called mazda specialists and all they deal with is imports and mostly RX-7.....
DUH of course I should probably take it there huh? But if you have any guesses I would still like to hear em' if ya got any. Thanks anyways.

Very weird and disturbing, please help. They told me it was a vacuum problem, like they conected the lines to the turbos wrong or something like that. But in about 3rd gear I'm still GONE!
But it feels like I'm not getting a whole lot of boost still. I'm taking it back on Friday and they are going to fix it, but I still want to know from you guys is it the vacuum lines? I'm going to pick up a Blitz duel turbo timer tomorrow too which it doubles as a digital boost gauge, so that will help me find out how much boost I'm runnin'. Any input on this would be greaatly appreciated, O and I will post pictures later today when I get home from work
. This wheather is good for the RX I heard too. HEHE

No problem. It is running a lot better now since I have been driving it around to get the fuel system cleared out and the oil and coolant running through the system. The secondary Turbo is kicking in just fine after it gets warmed up just a bit. It is now kicking in all the time around the 3k to 4k RPM range. And then WOOSH! I'm gone, and it is still really fast even though I'm not flooring it and driving it under 4k RPM's. I'm going to go get a Turbo Timer after the turbos get fixed and then I'll post how much boost I'm getting. One question....how much boost should I be getting? And also what kind of oil should I put in it? 10w 30? please let me know, I was going to get mobile one full sythetic. Thanks a lot.
The SECOND turbo does not Kick in untill 4500rpm - what you are feeling at 3k is the Primary spolling up (and way late at that) the WASTEGATE &/or PRESPOOL actuators may not be adjusted properly allowing exhaust to bypass the primary and delay it's spooling up to full boost
DON'T use Synthetic untill the engine has been broken in for at least 3000mi. During break in change the oil at 500, 1000, 2000, & 3000mi, then you can go to synthetic. But remember that even w/ synthetic you have to change the oil at 3000mi intervals. I run CASTROL 10w-30 and add 1/2 qt of Marvel Mystery Oil at each Change.

haha, this car sounds exactly like my old FD,
it was a 93 mb tan interior,
I sold it to some guy who lives up in northern CA/souther WA, haha and it had like 75k and a blown engine when I sold it.
hahahahah,
could be the same one.
just noticed you said clean carfax?
if so, it problem not the same, mine was fUUUkd up, hehe.
check if theres a slim shady cd stuck in the dash just to make sure, hahaa.

well, I am taking it to a guy that works at a mazda dealership a couple miles from my house and all he has worked with is RX-7's and he is hopefully going to fix my vacuum problem. It is pretty much confirmed that it is the vacuum lines that are all crossed and fucked up, so he will fix it and maybe I can have him do a couple other things for me. I'm reaching about 500 miles soon on this engine already, so maybe I'll change the oil with sythetic blend or something. I went to a site and they suggested 20w 50 for winter, so maybe I'll do that for now. and a 1/2 qt. of MMO u say? sounds good. Now all I have to do after fixing the turbo system is fix my antenna and get a new CD player and I'll be done and it will be in full working condition.
YAY! I was kind of scared today on the freeway since it was raining and once boost kicked in at about 4500 RPM's my tires were spinning, because I was in first and there was traffic
I gotta be careful. It is very fun and it gets the ladie's! Already had my first group of girls honk at me and tell me I had a nice car
. Well, sorry pictures were delayed, but now I need to wash my car due to rain and then I will post the pics as soon as possible.

Dude...come up to Tacoma...at least you can keep your car looking nice in the winter time in California.
Up here..you're lucky to get ONE hour of sunshin inbetween November and June. I miss Cali.

Could'a been mine!!
Hey man! Were you were that skinny whiteboy with glasses that beat me to that Montego Blue Rx-7? Or were you the fat dorky asian guy?
Anyhow, I saw the ad and it was my fault I didn't respond to it fast enough. I waited at least a week before I went to take a look at it. When I got to there I took a quicksy looksy. The interior was great from what I could see despite all that damn dirt and dust on the car. But, usually the interiors are always clean since they can so easily be replaced and easily taken care of. The paint was pretty good but, it wasn't the original, that's for sure. In fact, I don't think it was a very good one at that. The paint on the bottom of the doors was smooth but looked bumpy. A sure-tell sign of a re-paint and a poor job. It also had a weird line that spanned from both ends of the doors. Accident? Maybe. I went around the car and tapped it to hear any differences in the metal; a way of finding it if was crashed and not fixed to standards. They had (Autopex or whatever the place is called) obviously kept it outside for a long time. Not good for a rex since they are prone to rust. The wheels had a bit of rust.
I was done with the inspection when I walked up to the trailer to ask about the car when I seen two guys as mentioned above already at the desk signing papers. Half of me was like "DAMN!!"
The other half was "PHEW!"
since I was desperate at the time for a rex and would have bought anything as long as I got it. I guess it was for the better eh? I'll let you be the judge. REMEMBER ME NOW? I had a dark blue jacket, black t-shirt, jeans, white sneakers, light complexion and dark hair...? It does seem odd to be missing all those parts. Oh well.
I found a red 93' r1 with 58,000 mi on original motor and turbos. I've put a $1000 down for the dealer to hold it for me. The inspection went good from what I could tell. It still had the original paint! OMG! Just a minor (I mean minor) hint of fade. Black interior clean with a turbo timer. Completely stock! Haven't drove the car yet. Gonna go buy a boost guage and test drive it probably Sunday or Monday and if it passes the test, gonna go sign the papers and take Roxie (I think that's what i'm gonna name her) home. $17,500. Considering all of the above with a clean carfax. I've even gotten in contact with the previous owner (stroke of luck) and he say's it was in mint-mechanical condition
when he sold it to the dealer 2-weeks ago for $16,500. If everything checks out A-OK, has my search for an Rx-7 ended? I want your guys opinions. I know it ain't no $9,800 but consider the above. Let me know guys.
RX7SpiritR- Good luck with your Rx-7. A word of advice concerning the ladies: If she likes you for the car, she ain't worth it. Take care man!
Ps. The plates on the car read: "RAIDEN 1"
If anyone here is familiar with it lemme know.

HOLY ****! Yeah I was the one with the glasses. And that fat "dorky kid wasn't asian, unless you were talking about someone else. Yeah the car is running great, no problems so far. Need to recharge the A/C, fix power antenna, and fix the vacuum lines, prespool actuator, and the wastegate control unit. Once this is done I will have it in pretty much perfect running condition. That's wierd that I met someone online that saw me somewhere else, lol. Well good luck with the R1, hope you get it and everything works out. Sounds like a good deal. When I first drove it home I had to get the OLD 1/4 tank of gas (sitting since '99)
and I put some premium in there and on the way home a 2nd gen Supra saw me and stepped on the gas.
ok whatever, let him get away for now, hehe. Today I saw a blue '94 TT Supra with a wing and everything, the guy looks at me stares at me for a while and starts reving his engine and smiles, I did the same and smiled back, hehe I love this car very FUN!

RX7SpiritR: Be careful! Based on your picutes your car is idling at 1200rpm and has pretty low oil pressure. All of these have big oil pressure changes with rpm, but be sure you're getting 60 psi above 3000-4000 rpm.
Have fun!

o yeah of course. When I start it up cold it's WAY up at about 60 on idle, only in morning cold though. Regular day it looks like that, but as I start the car moving it goes up to about 60, I think it's the vacuum leak though because it does seem low. Thanks.

dirty terminal ---> low oil pressure
