Talking LOL

Ok, just to clarify some things. It is a 5 speed and it has a very nice Momo shift ****, like I said I will post the pics later on when I get the chance of the interior, etc. Now the reason the parts are missing is because when they first bought the car it was running, but smoking a little so they decided to take it in and have it checked out and fixed. Well they took it to the wrong mechanic first........the guys told them what the problems were and started to fix it, took the engine out and all those parts. Well time goes by and the moron loses half the parts so the dealership said go screw yourself and had it towed over to a mazda dealership where he knew the mechanic and he put in a rebuilt engine from mazda and checked the turbos and everything, well all the work that they did up to a point cost them a whopping $5 grand! So the owner of the dealership said **** it I've put too much money into it already let's just sell it, and that's where I came in and said I wanted to buy it, heh! And to answer your question, whoever asked if the title was clean or not, it is. No wrecks accidents or anything. Clean carfax. They even had it detailed and washed for me. But the back right rim is a little scratched, o well. But once it is out of the shop I will take some pics and upload them up onto here so you guys can see. O yeah and yes it was on Autotrader, that's how I found it lol. It was actually a great deal for how good of condition it's in, but I plan to replace the turbos whenever I get the chance, or at least the '99 spec efini Twins on it. But the hitachi T101's that are on it know should be ok for now (or until they give). But anyways, thanks a lot everyone and could you guys give me some tips on what I should think about doing first? other than the turbos please or breaking in the engine cause those are no brainers hehe. Thanks again.

Well I hope it all works out for you. Those parts listed seem odd to just lose because they're all fairly large parts. There are so many small parts on that car that should be lost well before those. Also, as my first post alluded to, you do not need a header for car. They told you that they were charging you for a downpipe and also a header w/02 sensor. The 02 sensor goes in the downpipe. You can't put a header on the car unless you remove the turbos (which isn't smart and clearly isn't the case), and then you won't be needing that downpipe. In any event, they're probably not ordering you an aftermarket downpipe, but instead a factory pre-cat. You should insist on 3" aftermarket downpipe.

There's also no such thing as a "99 spec efini Twins" because me thinks they dropped the efini moniker in like 98.

Anyways, good luck to you. I just hope you're not being taken.

.....UH YEAH

Uh, dude yeah there are '99 spec efini twins! SR Motorsports has em! They are like $3500 I think for em. They are higher flowing performance turbos, and I'm thinkin of gettin some, maybe. Not sure yet, Anyways, yeah I think it's the pre-cat but their are stock headers buddy. And the 02 sensor goes into the headers. That's what they are putting on. Anyways thanks and good luck with all of your RX-7's too. Now I'm going to ask again, hehe, what should I think of doing first to my car? Give me some caring tips PLEASE!

Listen to these guys, they are trying to help you! The FD does not have HEADERS! It has a precat that a lot of people replace with a downpipe. Which as previously stated is where the O2 sensor goes. Thats why you're getting the cracks about cams and such, something else the FD does not have. What color does the title say- it probably is montego blue. Take care buddy, be careful. Don't let this place rip you off. Read what these guys are telling you. Tom

Talking COOL

COOL guys thanks for the help! Now it's time to go knock some FOOKING heads! I'm pretty mad right now, he told me I needed headers.....maybe he meant the pre-cat, I'll find out. But they are already starting to BullSH*& with me! He should have had it towed over having it fixed on Monday, but I called him on Tues. and he was telling me they didn't yet so my Dad yelled at him And I'm going to call today, if he hasn't done it yet, someone's gonna die.......well, not literally, but he's gonna get it from me and my dad since my dad co-signed the loan! DAMN them, I want my CAR! Thanks guys for all the help.

Question

Thanks, I do listen, but I have anther question. The car has a new rebuilt engine in it with NO miles on it, and I am going to break it in by driving it extremely easy for AT LEAST 600 miles. The turbos are still original with about 87,000 miles on them. He said they checked the turbos and they are ok, but should I think about changing them soon or just wait till they start giving me problems? And should I replce anything else in the car? Anyone with some suggestions is welcome to give em to me, I'm all ears!

You've checked the title- step one. Use the magnet to check for body work since the experts are unsure about green for that year. This aside it seems to be a good price for the car. Experience tells us that a dealer will not lose money (their protestations to the contrary)! My advice, don't buy a single upgrade piece until you've driven a while. You may find things are not as they seem and that stock parts are better for some of your applications.

Don't expect quite as much as you'd like and assuming you're not on a tight budget you'll love it.

Peace

cool Thanks, yeah I'm sticking with light mods, like stock mount intercoolers and I'm just going to upgrade the turbos to the '99 spec high performance Efini Twin Turbos for a while...once I save up the money, LOL. I'll have it soon enough though.

Hey Rx7Spirit R, Your first mod should be a boost guage. With the so called vacuum and pressure chamber removed I bet those mechanics will hook that **** up wrong(especialy if they are Mazda mechanics). With 70+ vacuum lines under the intake manifold its very possible. Then after that upgrade as follows:

Replace fuel filter, Replace the plugs if they didn't,Replace all coolant hoses and upgrade the radiator if neccesary(especially if you plan on increasing the hp),If boost shows normal upgrade the vacuum lines and use tie raps. Make sure you know the differance between a down pipe and the precat. If they are putting the precat back in(should be that ugly fat thing directly behind the turbos)replace it with a down pipe. You will want to do these things as soon as they get it running. This way the car will be in perfect stock condition while you are breaking the engine in. Hey, better be safe than sorry

By the way, do you have any mechanical skills at all?

Not to imply used car dealers are dishonest or anything like that...

Do they have a receipt for the engine rebuild? It sounds like you've never heard the car run, nor have you driven it. Do you get a refund if it doesn't work?

Be careful. $9800 could rapidly become a terrible deal.

No everything is legit! He showed me all the receipts for all the work done to the car, including the engine AND everything is under warrenty so if anything goes wrong, they'll fix it. Plus they won't give the car to me unless it runs...and of course passes smog, **** that's another thing will it pass smog with a downpipe? And I have a little bit of mechanical skills cause I worked on my Mustang some (FORD sux *** by the way), but I'm a quick learner. Thanks for all the help.

It was actually a great deal for how good of condition it's in
Color has a lot to do with the value of a rex. From what I can tell the value, from most expensive to least expensive is:

Black
Red
Silver
Blue
Insert any other color they made here
....scroll down about three pages
....
....
Dark green.

In Australia I saw a red 1997 model sell for $65,000 and a dark green one in better condition with less miles sit in the same showroom for months at $40,000. For all I know it is still there. I was thinking of buying it and painting it black but decided it would be too hard to paint inside the engine bay etc.

Green....stock, I think not! Montego blue maybe but not green.
There are very rare but they do exist.

This guy is in California. It's really quite simple in North America, there's only 6 colors.

Vintage Red, Brilliant Black, Montego Blue, Silver Stone, Competition Yellow Mica and Chaste white.

Yellow and White are more rare than the others, but that's it.

I've seen lots of posts you can search for regarding emissions, California & downpipes.

I hope everything works out for you. If all you've been told is true, then you got a smokin' deal.

Good luck! Post some pics when it is yours!

That's great! There's nothing like the feeling of opening your wallet and grabbing the keys to your Mazda. Get used to it, You will come to know that feeling all too well. I'm on my first FD and my fifth wallet.

yeah I thought I cleared this up and corrected it earlier, if not then oops. It is Mentego Blue and it's nnice, no matter what, I think I got a great deal. It's in almost perfect condition, believe me I went to check it out remember? I would never buy anything if I don't or can't see it. Anyways, I'm going to be the first person to drive it with the new engine in it....hehe! Anyways, my efini emblems and key came in today, and I'm going down to pick it up on Tues. Right after I pick it up, I'm taking it down with my friends to a race shop and having them put in a Turbo Timer and BOV. Then I will go from there in the next couple weeks, since I don't get paid till next week, YAY, which means I'll have about a GRAND to spend on it, WOOHOOOOOO! Thanks for all the input.

It was just one of those things when you take a fast car like a FD (especially yours!), me comming from a 4000lb 50rwhp desiel auto benz, a rainy/wet day and crappy *** Nitto 450 (on stock rims, I swapped out the pretty large 275's RP-01's you had on the car with my brothers car cuz it was rubbing the fenders a bit too much).

BTW: Those wide tires saved my brother from a 90 mph 180 Uturn/spin out on a uphill turn! It was pure luck he slid to a stop from under a foot from a wall. With his stock crappy *** nitto 450's (which I'm running on my car right now), he would have for surely have went into that wall! Thank god and you very much!!!

Note to self: Buy bridgestone S-03's asap!

Exclamation o ****!

Well, I picked up the car and it was very nice, but the idle is off a bit and the primary Turbo isn't kickin' in! It has no power whatsoever under the 4k RPM range then the secondary turbo kicks in and it starts movin, but it doesn't even feel like it's kicking in all the way either. Very weird and disturbing, please help. They told me it was a vacuum problem, like they conected the lines to the turbos wrong or something like that. But in about 3rd gear I'm still GONE! But it feels like I'm not getting a whole lot of boost still. I'm taking it back on Friday and they are going to fix it, but I still want to know from you guys is it the vacuum lines? I'm going to pick up a Blitz duel turbo timer tomorrow too which it doubles as a digital boost gauge, so that will help me find out how much boost I'm runnin'. Any input on this would be greaatly appreciated, O and I will post pictures later today when I get home from work . This wheather is good for the RX I heard too. HEHE
