Talking I just got a 1993 RX-7....

YAY! I have been waiting so DAMN lonig to get this car, since I was little because I wanted one ever since my dad had a First Gen. I own it but it's in the shop for when I bought it, it was missing some parts and they are installing the parts right now (he said give him a few days). It's in almost perfect condition, stock dark green paint real clean no scratches or dings, and it's the touring model! Nice Tan leather interior with sunroof, foglights and bose premium soundsystem. Interior looks almost new, but is stock and everything works very nicely! And it has 88,000 miles on it, BUT he just had a rebuilt engine from Mazda Dealership dropped into it and it has NO MILES on it! I picked it up from a dealership for guess how much? ........Only $9800! and the parts AND labor are only costing me $2000. The parts that were missing were:
-6 special ordered bolts for the clutch and flywheel
-downpipe
-headers w/ O2 sensor
-vacuum chamber
-pressure chamber
-air pump and bracket
and he is putting a new battery in it and he is turning all 4 rotors for me because they are rusted just a little bit. other than the rotors it is a fooking clean RX for a completely stock '93.
I will put the pictures up once it comes out of the shop! It's very nice! I just want some advice on some care tips, thanks!

congrats man

Just becareful of how you drive it, the power to weight ratio for these cars can be a little tricky to get use to (I personnaly came from a 50rwhp desiel 4000lb benz to this and it took a lot of getting use to) I have had my share of near misses and let me tell you, slidding to a stop at 50mph is scary on the second day you own the car. There have already been 2 deaths and 1 accident in just the last week. Have fun but be safe

And you really don't need those other parts. Well, except for the bolts. They're taking you for a bit of a ride.

Its funny how the car was 'missing' all these parts. What happened to them? Doesn't it make you a little suspicious?

And here I was concerned how he said he had rust on his "4" rotors until I realized he was talking brakes, gotta love the rotary, haha. How were these parts "missing", like a downpipe and airpump, not exactlty pieces that "fall off", good luck with the car though,

How can the car be -missing- a downpipe? A downpipe is an aftermarket add-on, right, to replace the pre-cat? So did this car have a downpipe that was removed by the previous owner? Confusing. Also, did the mechanic explain what a "pressure chamber" is and how you could be missing it? The only pressure chamber on an RX-7 I can think of would be -inside- the motor, and you sure as hell can't be missing that!

Anyway, though. CONGRATULATIONS!

Green....stock, I think not! Montego blue maybe but not green.

welcome to the group and remember you need to take it easy on the new motor till you break it in properly.

unless its the motor, tranny, diff., interior, dash, headlights, wheels, etc.
Although I do agree he got a great deal if it is in as good of condition as he says. What does the title look like?

I've learned from this board that it's a really good idea to have a massive wad of cash for mods and potential repairs ready before you even -consider- buying an FD, so I'm saving my dough for the future. I want to have a small fortune at the ready before I get into this game. I've already resigned myself to the fact that as soon as I get the car, it'll probably be another 6 months before I can really drive it, because I have no intention of keeping it stock, or even close.

Take the time to break in the engine correctly or you will regret it down the road. Anyway, congrats and have fun.
