Green when lit, but have plans to put red caps on the bulbs so they match the stock orange look.

Lets me put it this way. I just paid less for a used 88 Volvo Station Wagon in need of a ring job. Material and labor for the custom 3 Gauge A-Pillar and the custom 3 Gauge dash cluster (dont know if U saw that pic) ran me a tad over $600. The bill was hard to swallow at first, but I beleive I can't go wrong with the final product.

I Jerry rigged my 3 pillar gauge by taking one two gauge pod and one single gauge pod from auto meter and cut them to fit on the pillar. It doesn't look as nice as yours though. But it did only cost $205.00 for all the same stuff through them. Http://www.summitracing.com has the best prices for gauges.

Subject: Gauge Illumination

I have 2 greddy 52mm gauges (oil pressure/water temp) with greenish illumination - is there any way to change to amber illumination?

Thanks for your interest in GReddy Products
But the only gauges that are can be back-lit amber is our 60mm Silver warning meters. All of our gauges use white bulbs, and it is the dial backing which produces the lighting color, usually green.
The bezel is sealed so it can not be changed.

PM me if you come up with something, but I dont think you can put any kind of filter that will change the color to amber since the plastic the light goes through is green.

A 88 Volvo Station Wagon in need of a rim job??? Sorry I had to.

I have to say your going in the right direction to having a bad-*** FD. Custom work, nothing beats it. Even though I dislike gauges on the passenger side of the car cause it's not vary practial I still think yours looks awsome.

I was thinking I would just get a 2 gauge pod for boost and engine temp. What 3rd gauge would one use in the pod? Is the stock oil gauge crap or is this just dress up?

I had plans to use 1 +2 =3, but I did not want the seams. Based on how I am building this car, I do not want a judge at a show to gig me for seams. I want everything to look like it came from factory.

Out of my total cost for the A-Pillar and Dash cluster (6 gauges total) most of the cost was for the dash cluster, because of the work required behind the dash. I would estimate that the breakdown for the 3 gauge A-pillar ran about $250 to $275.

2 gauges are fine, if that is what you want. I used boost, Oil pressure and Oil Temp on the A-Pillar. I felt those were more critical, so therefore I wanted them right in my face. I used Exhaust Temp, Water Temp and Fuel Pressure on my dash cluster (don’t know if U saw that pic), because they were not as critical, but still very important.

The bottom line is that I want to know exactly what is happening with this car at all times. Keep in mind that some of the stock gauges don’t have numbers, just an indication between two extreme points. I would rather spend the doe on gauges than to run the car not knowing exactly what is going on, and then have to end up doing a rebuild.

Not NEED, WANT. I did not need it, I just WANTED it. You see, I did the rest of the gauges to look like OEM, so I wanted the tach to be the one gauge that I was not trying to hide (not that you could hide this thing). There is nothing else sitting on the dash, except the tach.

The Profec b does not really hide the stock tach. I might go back to just the stock tach down the road. For now I just wanted to be on the wild side.
