A buddy of mine is considering getting a FD. I've told him that their reliability is questionable (mostly due to the lack of knowledge early on regarding how to care for them). My own personal experience has been pretty good. My first FD had 62k miles on its first engine when I bought it. The secondary turbo went south around 65k (4.5k turbo replacement), but other than that it was pretty good (it had a downpipe when I bought it and I did a vaccum tube job while trying to diagnose the turbo problem). My secondn FD had 79k miles on its first engine when I bought it. It's going on 82.5k now and it runs even better than my first after I got the turbos fixed. That being the case, I did a considerable amount of research prior to buying both my first and second FDs and have learned how to do most of the maintenance on the FD. My current FD has had 2 coolant changes, 2 bottles of Redline FI cleaner run through, 3 oil changes, transmission fluid change, diff oil change, brake pad/fluid change, fan switch mod, plugs/wire change, O2 sensor change, fuel filter change and 5 aftermarket gauges installed (boost, water temp, A/F meter, fuel pressure, and EGT) in 3.5k miles.

I told him that I'd get some concrete statistics regarding how these cars hold up...

The poll is alittle misleading. Some might have had 105K on 1st engine, but have only 5 K on 2nd engine wi thno problems. If you can only vote once, how can a person vote for less than 25K on their 2nd engine.

question should just be, how many miles on engine before it was replaced?

25K or less
50 k or less
75 k or less
100k or less
100k or more

doesn't matter if its the 1st or 2nd. And if you haven't replaced it yet, don't vote. Gives a better life expectancy of the engines without the confusion.

68K 1st motor, no thanks to dip-sh$t original owner that did not know what changing the oil meant. Low compression.

9K miles now on reman, 1500-2000 mile oil changes, pre-mix religiously (forgot one fillup). Comp test recently, 7.8 both rotors, multiple tests.
