MMO Treatment clarification

Several questions on doing the Marvel Mystery Oil treatment to clean up carbon on the rotors, apex seals, etc.

2-3oz. in each rotor chamber threw the spark plug holes, correct?

Spin engine by hand to get the oil in there good, right?

Let it sit for how long?

Spin it some more while it has sat for a while?

Use old plugs to fire it up and burn it all off, correct?

thanks,

Ray

THREE MORE QUESTIONS TO THE ABOVE THREAD...

1) Does it matter that an engine may be Fuel Injected?

2) If not, should I still put some in the gas tank?

3) Nobody answered the "How Long" part.

Thanks

EFI or carb doesn't matter

using it in the tank is just like premix in case your OMP ***** the bed

leave it soaking as long as you possibly can....days or weeks.

I've never seen it in Canada either - I'm still using ATF (not in the gas tank) - but I'd like to give the MMO a try!

Marvel Mystery Oil is owned by the Turtle Wax Co., so anyplace that sells Turtle Wax should be able to at least order you some if they don't have it in stock. good luck..

Marvel Mystery Oil

ADDED TO GASOLINE:
Cleans and lubricates fuel injectors and carburetors
Improves gasoline mileage
Reduces and prevents varnish and gum build-up
Extends spark plug life
Safe for catalytic converters and oxygen sensors

ADDED TO ENGINE OIL:
Prevents valve sticking and clatter
Fortifies properties of engine oil, prevents breakdown caused by extreme temperatures
Promotes easier cold weather starts
Reduces and prevents acid and sludge formation

FOR ALL MARINE ENGINES:
Inboard and outboard

Canadian tire sells the little tiny bottles for like $3.99 a pop. It's ion the fuel additives section. You can also find it at PartSource (Canadian Tire's auto parts chain).

cjf, it really doesn't matter which holes you put it in but........I would put the oil/atf in the leading plug holes because they are larger and you won't make such a big mess.

Its nearly impossible to get any in the trailing holes, they are only like 1/4'' diameter.

Hey Zal, go to the battery section of the store while you're there. Find the accessories area, and grab a battery filling thingy (looks like a turkey baster). They are PERFECT for gettting MMO in the holes.

Get a little squirt bottle of Marvel Air Tool Oil. As far as I can tell, it's just repackaged MMO. They used to sell MMO in the little 4-oz squirt bottles too, which are excellent for getting into the plug holes, putting a dab on bolt threads, things like that. (Glad I held on to a couple of 'em!)

I put 1ox of MMO per gallon in the tank of the GSL when I fill up. Certainly seems to be running a lot smoother! I'll have to do a compression test one of these days, just for reference later on down the road.

Most auto parts store sell those hand pumps for Sta-lube brand gear oils and such, which would be great for injecting MMO in the engine. The best part is that each pump despenses 1oz.

Speaking of auto parts stores, Pepboys is having a sale on the 32oz MMO, ~$2.50 each.

Just get a small Turkey baster from Wal*Mart and use about 3 inches of rubber hose to make a flexy nozzle.

Best US$1.98 I spent to put into my soolbox.

Works great for suckin out extra brake fluid when you change the pads too. (Wash it out after each job. No good mixin oil and brake fluids.)

How would the MMO treatment work if you were only to add it to the petrol tank, rather than putting some directly in the engine.

It'd take longer to clean the carbon out. It'd probably do it though.

The MMO/ATF treatment is designed to restore compression lost through carbon sticking the apex seals. Adding it to your gas tank is preventative maintenance so that it doesn't happen... So is changing your oil religiously.

My engine has about 600 miles on it. I've been using regular 87 octane gas and Castrol 10W30 GTX oil. The OMP is brand new and IS working. Would you recommend adding MMO at each fill of the tank and why?

Yes. 1 quart per full tank.

Insurance and Maintenance purposes.

If you must pass emissions, run through one tank without it before getting your test done.

MMO w/cat

Will doing the treatment (fill and soak) with mmo, then firing up the engine hurt a new cat?
