Auto->5sp Swap - Parts list.

I have an 84 Automatic 12a GSL. I will try to pull parts off a JY of same year and low miles if possible. So far here is what I know I will need:

1) Transmission
2) Shifter Assembly
3) Plastic Interior Trim
4) Shifter Boot
5) Clutch Assembly
6) Smaller Brake Pedal
7) Clutch Pedal

What I don't think I need:
1) Drive Shaft
2) Bell housing

Don't forget about the clutch master/slave cylinder, all the lines, and some way to rig up the return springs etc on the clutch.

You will need a new driveshaft. The 84 and 85 Auto and 5 spd driveshafts are different I believe.

here's the easy method:

1) remove the radiator cap from your car.
2) replace everything else with a separately purchased 5sp.
3) replace the radiator cap.

3 steps and you're done, no tools required!

Make sure shifter assembly also means the bolt that the clutch pedal hangs off of. It's different than the one in your car now, trust me...the conversion is not that hard, manntis!! Don't scare this guy!! Also..

8) Crossmember from standard car...they are, indeed, different...
