insurance quotes
How much do you guys pay for insurance on your fd's? I just got a quote but i didn't have a clue what i was doing so i got quoted for about 1k every 4 months.
I only pay about $450-500 every 6 months with State Farm but I'm old, I've never had an accident that was my fault, and I've got every possible discount imagineable. However, I'm paying something like $850 every 6 months on my '01 Jetta that my 18 year old daughter drives!!!

How old are you and where did you get your quote from?

I'm currently insured with Century-National insurance. I am a 30 year old male driver, I have no accidents or speeding tickets in the last 5 years.
This is what I'm paying: $775.00 per year for my RX-7 insurance keeping in mind that I have 4 other car that is insured as well. I do get good driver's discount and my RX-7 is listed as pleasure vehicle. This includes 300/100 coverage, $500.00 deductables for collision/comprehensive with uninsured motorist and medical.
Century-National Insurance: 800-760-5001

Well, your best bet is to insure the car with having your parents as the primary driver and you as the secondary driver.
Until you get into your 20's, insurance is going to be high on a "high risk" sports car with you being the primary driver even without any tickets or accidents.

Unless you can afford full coverage, I wouldn't do it. I figure you are looking at $2000+ per year. I remember when I was 20 with a Miata. I couldn't get anything less than $2000 per year. I was paying $2350 for the year (this was back in 1992-1993, insurance costs are even higher now). An RX-7 is in the same classification as the Miata when it comes to insurance rates.

thats what i was thinking if it was going to be too high. Btw gzon not everyone who's 16 isn't imature, that just makes you sound imature for thinking so.

And many people that I know was not ready either.
BTW, where do you get the money to buy a FD at 16???
well one way you could do it is work for about 3 years as a computer tech and mow lawns every summer for about 7 hours a day and maybe save half of that and you should have enough. But hey, what do i know thats just how i did it.
for choosing to get more then liability, here is an easy question.
Can you replace the vehicle with cash?
if you have enough cash to replace the vehicle in the event you make a mistake, your best bet is not to get more than liability coverage.
If you don't have the cash to replace the car. better get full coverage.
For most people this follows and individually defines the beater theory.

I pay about 500 every 6 months. If you want to make money to pay for it the best way during the summer to to stain decks. It is a easy 3 person job and the supplies are cheap. People will pay you about $200 for it depending on the size of the area.

I dont know how much insurance is for an FD when your 16 but i know that for my moms accord that im driving im the secondary driver and it went up 1200 a year when i got my learners.. When she worked for state-farm i asked her to quote me on the FD and she said it would be almost 3k a year for me.
