Insurance on 3rd Gens..

Hey kiddies. I was just curious how old you guys were and how much you are paying for insurance on your FD's. I'm 17, but I bought a 1984 Toyota Tercel 4WD for $450 and I'll list that as my primary on insurance. My dad said he'll list the FD as his primary, and hes almost 60. I'll have the 7 as my secondary. Apparently this saves BIG money. How much are you guys paying?

As far as that DSM dude, it depends on SOOO many things. Your driving record, your parents, where you live, even color of your car.

I pay $100/month as I am considered 2ndary driver on the car, although I am primary...

Yeah, that was the plan(list me as secondary). $100/month sounds great. I'm glad this isn't my 1st car though. If I pick up the FD next week, it would be my 4th car. I've had expirience with FWD,AWD, but I have yet to drive a RWD car. Sounds like fun.

24, out of college, just under $3K a year. keep in mind this is with a great company as far as rates (USAA) and I have full coverage on everything...

by the way, there is no rate change in males until 25. so I'm in the bracket with 16 year olds for another year.

Cool

I pay $440 for 6 months. The RX isn't listed as primary car and I'm the only driver.

i was quoted at ONE THOUSAND a MONTH when i went for a quote as an FD for my daily driver... other providers were a bit lower but the lowest was maybe 800 a month..

i have no points on my license or any tickets on my record whatsoever. maybe it's my location?

44, clean record, everything covered, listed as secondary car. 850 per year. USAA insurance, which tends to be less than anyone.

Just put your dad as the primary on the FD and you as the secondary.

I'm 28 and paying $800 for a year. FD is under dad's name as primary. The title of the car has to have his name on it in order to do this. The title on my FD has both of our names specifically for insurance reason.

You guys are going to hate me:
I'm 26, the car is listed as a "pleasure car" with less than 12,000 miles a year.
828 dollars a year.
I am the only driver listed for this car.

I have a perfect driving record too, besides the speeding ticket when I was 16.

If i drive the FD much i'm sure that will change

I have two speeding tickets on me and I got a quote for $233 a month for myself. If I put it under my moms name it will be dirt cheap. I get off lucky though. My agent and I are real good buddies. =]

I'm 27, pay $1200 full coverage for my 93 FD and 98 Honda Accord V6 ex sedan (wifer's). When i had my eclipse GS-T also, it was just $100 more. So not too bad. But like everyone said it depends on your driving record, age, area, Multiple cars, etc...I suggest if that you're under 25, go secondary with parents.

Insurance drops BIG when you turn 21. I had an acura legend, and was paying 145/mo before I turned 21. on my birthday, it DROPPED to $83/mo. My FD is only $90/MO--until they find out about my recent 70 in a 30.

I'm 24, one 4-point wreck when I was 18, and no tickets...full coverage is right at $600/yr. I have a house, another car, and a bike with the same company, so that helps. Plus NC regulates the insurance rates. Looking forward to that price drop at 25!
