28x8x3 fits easily inside between the rad and front numper. No need to cut anything.

Best size, and a tight fit, 28.5x9x3.5. Its what I have.

mine is a tad smaller:

28x5.5x2.5

If I had gone with the 8.5" or 9" i'm sure it would have fit better in the opening but it's fine. I'm replacing the turbo so I don't know if I'll need a larger core yet but it should be fine for stock turbo.

Did you have to cut anything out?

You are replacing the turbo?

I suggest you go with atleast what I have. And get bottom outlets, it makes for easier piping.

My 2 cents.

you can also use an aftermarket SMIC for an FD.

I like the size he used^^ might not need to be replaced once you upgrade the turbo.
