top mount or front mount

i am looking to get about 300 to 330 out of my t2 with a street port BNR stage 2 upgraded fuel mods and an ems but my questions is would it be better to go with a front mount or keep the top mount but use a water injection on it.

if you want 300rwhp you will never do it on a top mount.

You could do it with the tmic, but you would have pretty high intake temps(very bad thing). I would go with a fmic.

Yeah, I was gonna mention that earlier. He was using 30% methanol if memory serves, which is quite a lot so his results are FAR from typical. You really would be better of just getting a FMIC. You will always want more power and the top mount will just be a restriction.

A company used to make a upgraded tmic for fcs, i don't think they needed modifying.

Thats the point of adding Water Injection...to help cool intake temps.

Jon, you'd be fine with the power you're looking for on a TMIC with WI. If you want more power, you could always upgrade to a FMIC in the future to further cool intake temps. I believe the Greddy kit plumbs around a battery and the PS, but Greddy kits are expensive, IMO.

Our TMIC's are pretty efficient, they just become heat soaked very easily just like most TMIC's do.

I have a bigger TMIC and I don't have a custom hood. You need to do a little bit of research before you come here with your nonsense. Not too mention that it was much easier to bolt on the aftermarket TMIC than installing any FMIC kit.

Whether or not it's better, that's a different story.

i know of 3 7's running methanol with a top mount, and they are all near or above 300.
I will be running the same set up shortly.

What about V-mount...? dont rule that out.

I have heard nothing but success stories about v mounts. there kick *** for street driven cars...alot of my friends had to hack there bumpers significantly with fmic on a rx7 due to cooling issues. it puts a big air blockage on the radiator and oil cooler. two things you really dont want blocked. i would do a vmic and i actually plan too. its just cost and time to have some fab it. theres no "kits" yet for fc

hey marcus, but with a v-mount, you'll need a reverse vented hood, or else the intercooler is just sitting in a warm engine bay.
