AFINI FD??? whats AFINI

My boss drove his friend's 3rd gen that he says was hella fast, he thought it was faster than a stock 3rd gen and told me it said AFINI on the side, he was thinking that maybe it was a upgraded version of the car done by a company called AFINI(not sure of the spelling)
anyone heard of this?

Efini is the version that we have in Japan, I'm not sure what the differences are, but it is supposedly equivalent to what you have over there as an R1/R2. All I know is that he probably upgraded some stuff, but the badges are only aftermarket in the states, the Efini was never brought over there.

Efini is the 'sports' version of the RX-7 in Japan and some other countries. Im sure your boss just added the sticker as you cannot get an efini rx7 in the US

It is a hair more powerful yes, but I'm pretty sure if in the states, it's not authentic.

i think the efini is a different brand designation. similar as pontiac is to GM.
so it's an Efini RX-7.
Except the 99+ they must have dropped the Efini line and just went with mazda.

As ISUposs said, Efini was just the name Mazda branded the car with. It's comparable to SVT, M-, or AMG. It was not a special edition of the RX-7 or anything. The same year cars were the same in Japan or USA (with the exception of options).

Incorrect, they were called RX-7's. As noted above, Efini is a brand.

Exactly ... Efini is a spinoff brand from Mazda that was going to be used for higher-end vehicles in Japan and perhaps later worldwide, similar to Infiniti and Lexus. In the end, Mazda dropped the separate "brand" label.
