Thumbs up Check out my new exhaust!

Hey!,
Just finished sawing / grinding / filing / welding up my new exhaust. It's straight 3" back from the turbo using a Borla XR-1 sportsman muffler and (for now) a midpipe (not in the picture). Can you say 'loud'? At least the borla takes the edge off the sound. Enjoy!

I hope you've got a good boost gauge and something to control boost creep and spikes..

Very nice, but you forgot the 2nd muffler. FCs gotta have a dual exhaust....

I'm working on my own right now (well, not *right* now)...3" downpipe, to a 2.5" dual catback...Replacing my old one, but reusing my existing mufflers.

Aaron - I was going to go dual, but I make $7 an hour and buying two mufflers would put me in the poor house . single is also lighter, and it was a bit easier for me to make (I didn't even have the old one to use as a template!). The car sounds awesome I think. I just fixed a <big> oil leak (threw a bunch of permatex on the OMP blockoff plate.. that oughtta fix it ), but as soon as that stuff sets up i'll grab a recording. It sounds pretty damn quiet at idle (relatively speaking), with a very deep tone. Once you get on the gas though, it gets pretty loud. Not bad for $220 and a few days in labor

Edit - emagdnim: How about a Haltech E6K? Seriously though, the motor is a fresh rebuild (just put the first 10 miles on it last night... err... this morning @ 5:00 am ), so I'm not even close to worrying about boost yet. I should be able to tune it adequately with the Haltech though, I don't think the turbo will push >15psi even @ wot, so I should be OK (please let me know if i'm mistaken )

Thanks,
manolis

I know the "loud" feeling I just got the 3" Corksport single exhaust, it's badass. I have the Thunder Fabrications downpipe/midpipe as well

Talk about no restriction

The borla XR-1 mufflers are loud. They do not last long either. I would recommend using a light weight straight though glass pack. That should muffle it down alittle. Get ready to buy a muffler next year.

Dont forget to use your ear plugs.

jmseven: The borla mufflers are made of 304 stainless steel, with stainless steel wool packing. They are gauranteed for 1,000,000 miles, and I don't intend to pay for a new one next year

It purrrrsss like a kitten at idle too!

Hello! Here are the recordings of Manolis's car. Turn down your bass! The ticking in the background is the tiny little elecret microphone being overwhelmed by the insane exhaust pulses. They are , in fact, so powerful that if you are standing next to the car to get in, it sounds like people 10ft away are talking through a fan!

here it is idling....
