Like Fritz says, have you been putting pinballs in the intake again?
before i took teh front cover off i used a mechanica stehtescope, those things are craszy, you can hear totally different stuff than you normally hear, for example, i could hear the injectors pulsing fuel when i touched the stethescope to my fuel rail, its was nuts. Anyway, I did multiple tests with the rattle noise and it is such a global noise that it was loud everywhere with the stethesscope, even if i just touched the frame of the car. however, it did seem more prominent in front, thus the decision to take the front cover off....

...so we took the front cover off, AND..........

......... everything was perfect. needle bearing were fine, the spacers were in great shape, all teh internal bolts were tight, the oil chain and sprockets were fine, we even took out the front stationary gear and the bearing and gear were perfect....no metal crap in the oil pan.

so, who knows,.... I put it al back together and will take a few hour nap while the sealant cures, then ill go start it and see what happens....

....basically we saw/fixed nothing in the entire front of the engine, rear of the engine, turbo system, transmission, and clutch....this **** is bananas!!!

This is crazy damian. Hoestly, the only times I've heard sounds like that, it was due to a bad bearing of some type. But, it seems you eliminated all the possible bearing issues, except for the rotors, and the rear main. Are you pulling the rear main next? At least that one is relatively easy to pull...

Aside from that, maybe check for cracks on the manifolds, and the engine block near the dowel pins. I dunno man, just throwing out some ideas...

Good luck!

we were back there when i pulled the clutch off to rule it out but i didint pull the rear stationary gear/bearing out...i could try that but i really don think its that bearing, there are no bearing shaving in my oil or oilpan and with this noise the bearing would have been disintegrated in seconds and i would have bearing parts all over my oil system,...my oil system is clean. also, the car makes perfect vac and perfect power, so it cant be somthign that would affect the engines performance

good ideas though, thanks, ill look the engien block over again to make sure nothing is cracked.

err, i dunno how this helps me? LOL

my engine is making perfect vac and power, im pretty sure the seals are intact and it is not 'blown'

it seems to be a massive harmonic vibration rattle from a very elusive area and part.

You cannot see the stationary gear bearings or the rotor bearings by pulling off the front cover...

I have seen engines with a knock (bad bearing) run for thousands of miles. Also, the rotor bearing only has to be slightly crushed or worn to get the knock...you may not see shavings for a while.
The engine will continue to make good power as well...

with a little luck, your housings and endplates will be ok.

Engine Work - realtime webcam

Check us out on the realtime webcam. We are pulling out my engine and tearing it apart to find out the source of a horrific rattling noise.

ill post some soon,...and i dunno the actual cause, I know hypothetical causes (debris in oil that got to the bearing in a bad spot, oil starve to bearing for some reason, et, et)...

trust me, I am asking myself the same thing!!!

Sorry to hear the bad news Damian. Were the rotor bearings replaced during the last rebuild?
