when talkin to mechanics they say "rotory cars are hard to work on" i always think that the 7 is the only rotored car besides the 8 now but i've been wonder if there is any other rotored powered cars?

 

theres an RX2, Rx3 and i beleive an Rx4.... also the Cosmo .... and in the 70's there was a rotary truck... and theres one more but i cant think of the name... i think it start with an L or somthing

 

The Luce was another rotary car. And NSU produced a limited number of them called the Wankel Spyder. The pickup was the REPU (Rotary Engine Pick Up).

NSU was a German companmy who was the first to apply wankel rotary engines to their carr...very very low horsepower, very inferior to the 13B...

Don't forget the original R-100 Mazda. and the original cosmo.

Also the New 90's Cosmo was redisigned a luxuey rotary with 13B-REW twin turbo or optional 20B RE 3 rotor twin turbo.

 

Don't forget Mazda's first rotary car, the Cosmo 110S launched in 1967.

That makes me want to put a 13B in a bus. A VW bus or Crew Cab.

 

Chevrolet almost put a wankel in the
1975 Monza. The driveline tunnel was biggerj
to accomodate the new engine. The
tunnel was downsized for 1976.

GM didn't do it because emissions
requirements and fuel mileage
were "prohibitive". Several prototypes
were made however. Its too bad
they didnt do it. They would have been

I know you said cars, but there were several snowmobiles that were rotary powered and even a lawnmower... I'd love to find one of those.

 

I saw a show on the history of the Corvette and there was a early 70s "futuristic prototype" that had a 4 rotor NA mid engined car, it was like, way buck rodgers/spaceship futuristic, obviously that never came to pass either.

 

dorifc3s, the engine used in the luxury cosmo's was the 13BRE not the 13BREW. The 13BREW was used in the 3rd gen RX-7. The 13BRE is sequential turbo just like the REW but it has massive primary and secondary runner's and ports. The engine is more powerful than the 13BREW.

I remember there was a rotary powered motorcycle. Don't remember to much about it. Anyone have some info on it?

 

And yes I know this thread is supposed to be about rotary powered cars but I thought this would be a good place to ask.

 

It was a Suzuki. There was a thread about it a while back, I'll see if I can find it.

 

the bike was a norton and there was also a snow mobile artic cat and mecedez also has a model I have a hole list of different vehicles they put rotary engines

it ran pretty quick but it was a really top heavy bike. my old boss, dave atkins, has a rotary riding lawn mower. he let me cutt the grass once and you can pop wheelies in it!

In the 50s there was a rotory motorcycle made by NSU Prinz, but it was pretty small displacement, as I recall.
