All the ones base that I have seen were black leather, or so i thought....lol, now I'm, confused. Which model came with black leather, then? Anyone?

Using some logic here, wouldnt it be a black interior base model? Of course correct me if Im wrong.

And also 700 shipped for r model seats?? If thats the case, then Im jumping in on this.

Ramy, if we could get a ballpark on the r1/2 seats and the base. Also maybe an example pic of both would be able to help everyone out. I see I wasnt the only one confused/unsure.

As far as I know, leather came on the touring models. PEP , whatever you call it

Base models where the grey cloth with the pattern
r1 models are that suede kinda cloth

 

After searching a million threads, I'm pretty sure you're right, 7_rocket. The only cars I've seen with black leather have been 1994+, and either Touring or PEP's.

Weird, I always thought that Tourings only came with tan leather. I done learnded somthing!

 

I have a question for anyone with base seats -- I recently had the chance to look at a set in person and noticed that the fabric of the seats was "waxy" (for lack of a better way to describe it). Maybe I could describe it as not soft to the touch and canvas with a bit of oil in it? Its hard to explain...

I'm wondering if this is what the seats are like or if what I saw was an exception.

I think I might switch over to wanting the R2 seats if that's the case...

B Hydra - the center section of the base seats (the part some say looks like CF) is pretty much like whay you described - kinda stiff like burlap, but smooth. Good news is that it wears really well and is actually not uncomfortable (at least not the fabric itself). Hope this helps. -Randy

I'm interested in an excellent pair of black fabric R2 seats. My FD has a perfect pair of tan leather seats that I'd be interested in trading. If not, I can just hang on to them.
