Fun with oil cooler & V-mount ducting

Charlie (cabaynes) and I decided to make up some ducting for my VMount and Oil Cooler kit... here are the results (don't mind the scribbled movie quotes on the top) The ducting I used to have was very beat up and way to thin to be sturdy enough to withstand high speeds.

Oh wow, looks very nice! Any chance you'd be interested in making more ducting like this and selling it? I'd like something for the v-mount that I'm currently putting together...

Thanks What bumper are you using? We might be able to work something out, what did you have in mind?

<---OEM 99 spec. I'll be working with an RE I/C, and having someone modify a Koyo rad for me. My biggest concern is going to be ducting, and I've never worked on anything like that before. Like I mentioned before, your setup is flat-out amazing; I'd love to rock a duct like that.

What materials did you use? WHat did you use to hold them in place?

Working on a custom setup for my FC. Already have the vmount in, just need front ducting.

We used .050 thickness 6061 sheet aluminum and pop rivets to hold keep everything nice and tight. The oil cooler ducts are mounted to the cores, and the radiator/Intercooler duct is bolted to the radiator mount and the frame.

Madslow would you just need the radiator/IC ducting, or oil coolers as well? I will be getting a 99spec front as soon as the next boat comes over from Japan so we can probably fab something up for you. Do you have any pictures of the radiator mounts? If you're using the RE radiator mounts I already have a set, so it will be easier.

here is a closer picture of the oil cooler duct.

Right now I'd just need the v-mount duct, but my setup hasn't even really started. It *should* be started and completed within a month. I'm buying the RE I/C next week, and having the rad fabbed by someone else. As for the oil cooler ducts, I'm still using the single oil cooler until I can figure out which kit was most suitable for my needs. I've been looking at the GB for the new ones you guys have made, but I'm still unsure. I'm pretty much maxed on mods for the stock twins, unless theres something out there I'm forgetting...

Do you have the tornado intake adapter ? Okada also makes a plasma ignition booster similar to the HKS twin power.

By "we" you had better mean "I" because there is no way I'm building any more ducting unless it's for my own car

They were never very high, water temps stay around 83 degrees celsius. I haven't really logged air temps, but they're usually around 15 degrees F above ambient. I don't think there will be much benefit on normal street driving, but on a track I think it would sustain the cooler temps better.

Well I'm just buying the I/C alone for $600 shipped, and then I have to find all of the other components(radiator, ducting, brackets) myself
