Smile NRG Hood Dampers GB

By popular request, we'll be running another GB on the NRG Hood Dampers.

Note: While there are online sites that claim to sell these dampers for cheaper, they also claim that these are made for OEM hoods only, and don't carry all the options the NRG ones do. So I want to make sure everyone's aware that these are GENUINE NRG hood dampers (known for their high quality), purchased DIRECTLY through NRG, available for both OEM and lighter aftermarket hoods, in silver or CF finishes. Please see below for further details.

Thanks!

CNC Brackets?

Ramy,

Do these include the CNC two hole brackets like the Rotary Extreme brackets? Or are these the cheap stamped steel painted single hole brackets?

CNC Brackets = Chuck's RE Dampers Only

I gather from your reply on the other thread Ramy, that you are offering the NRG kits as is without any CNC aluminum two hole brackets? Also will the GB price be the same as the last GB, $140 shipped?

I am going to pass. Good luck guys!

NRG kits are as is, nothing additional.

If I offer the brackets, it will be separate, but again that depends on demand, and right now I don't get the sense that there is a lot of it.

Lastly, being that this is a new GB and the recent restructuring @ NRG, I'll hold off on posting a price until I have one from NRG. Which leads me to the next point. Lets get a list going (vs. ppl simply posting that they're interested) so we can see how many orders we're looking at.

Thanks,
~Ramy

I guess I should ask a couple questions for sure before I 100% committ and put my name on the list...

How are they mounted, any drilling, tapping, etc?\

And what is the story on the cnc bracketts, what is the downfall of not having them/benefits of having them.

I guess to be honest it depends on the answers I get for those questions as wether or not I committ to this.

Let me know.

No drilling or tapping necessary - they use one of the existing bolts on the hood hinge and replace a cap screw on the fender panel. Found this installation video for your enjoyment: http://www.hspn.tv/?videoid=9&catid=14

The CNC brackets were apparently created by "Chuck" of Rotary Extreme (RE) and there are conflicting stories about which cylinders he used. The advantage (besides being way cooler and probably lighter) is that they key off of both hinge bolts, so they cannot rotate or put undo stress on the hinges. This is probably more important to FD owners with aftermarket CF or FG hoods. I think the fitment is better for these hoods too because they place the hood ball end in a slightly different position.

The NRG dampers (and other brands) are widely available for probably slightly more cost than Ramy will offer, but without having to wait for the GB to gel. The RE CNC brackets however are no longer made. If somebody can provide me with dimensions, I might spearhead making/offering them myself. See my post on the other thread soliciting the dimensions here: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=350
