I can still get 'em yes. If there's enough interest I can run another GB (I'd like to see about 10 orders). So if you're interested, plz start another thread, as I'm about to retire this one.

Thanks,
~Ramy

I have been watching this thread for a long time. Very disturbing how long it has been for NRG (?) to make it right. So how many of you guys are still waiting?

The dampers have been shipped out to all waiting people. We should all have ours by the 15th I think.

Got mine today.

Pics

The lighting is shitty and makes these look black in the first pic, but they are silver.

Now all I need is my hood to use these with! *pokes Ramy*

*edit*
I just noticed the box says this though...

^in this pic the marker spot over the Rx7 lettering looks like it says "carbon fiber" under the marker when you look at the box under different light angles. It looks like it said "CF" under the market to the right of the Rx7 lettering.. Same thing for the dot above the Rx7 lettering.

I don't see any markings on the dampers themselves to indicate if these are the dampers made for aftermarket lightweight hoods. Ramy?

CNC Brackets?

I don't see the CNC aluminum brackets^^^. These are the only parts that IMO were special about the dampers that started this thread in the first place. Did you or did you not get the set of CNC aluminum brackets that have TWO HOLES where they mount to the hood brackets?

The brackets are black in a baggy in the pic.

Duh...

Yeah I saw those. They look like painted steel with one hole. Not CNC aluminum with two holes. Please correct me if I am wrong.

They only have one hole, which I was unaware of. Kinda disappointed by that. I don't think any of the pics I saw before really ever showed them.

Juiceh, the hood is on the boat that's already in the water. So it won't be much longer

Re: the labeling of the hood dampers, don't even bother. I went through so much crap w/ these guys that I ended up having them specifically make them by hand (from raw materials) b/c they weren't "in stock." So they made 'em based on exactly what I ordered.

Lastly, only Chuck's hood dampers used the CNCed aluminum bracket w/ two holes instead of one. I agree it is a better design, and I've contemplated coming out w/ a similar hood damper myself, but I dunno if there is enough demand to offset the cost, that's all...

So these are in fact the lower psi dampers for after market hoods then? Just in the wrong box? If these break my hood your gonna buy me a new one right?

I wonder if we can find someone that can make some nicer CNC'd 2 hole brackets to use with these dampers instead.

LOL. No I'm not. NRG will be taking responsibility, as that's what I ordered, and that's what they assured me I was getting.

I can do it. But again, it's a cost/benefit analysis. Due to the time and cost of making the initial mold for the CNC machine, you have to sell enough units to offset the cost of that initial mold, ya know?

Well, if NRG's customer service stays the same I guess I'm pretty fucked if the dampers ever cause the hood to break.

Yep, I know. Theres a guy on this forum that has a CNC machine that might be interested in helping us out. Probably more work than its worth though.

CNC Brackets

Ya know I'd just like to make a set myself. All I would really need are three dimensions. Anybody with the CNC brackets care to be a pal and take these measurements accurately for me?

A. Forward offset from forward hood hinge stud (closest to the front of the car when the hood is down) to the center of the damper ball end.

B. Lateral offset from forward hood hinge stud (closest to the front of the car when the hood is down) to the center of the damper ball end.

C. Vertical offset from the hinge surface upwards (when the hood is closed) to the damper ball end.

Here's a figure:
