Angry FD Newbie - what is going on?

Hi - sorry to post here about this, but getting through to you via email isn't working. Anyways, do you intend to ship out the re-amemiya sway bar mount that I purchased from you about a month ago? Last I heard from you a couple weeks ago you had this item in hand and only needed to ship it to me.

here's the last email you sent me:

Hey Leanne,

I went ahead and ordered it and had it shipped via 3-day EMS as I mentioned to you earlier. So I have the bar w/ me here. Only prob is, I have a huge exam coming up on Monday, March 26th, so time is super tight. Can it wait to ship out then, in which case you'd have it by the end of that week (it would arrive by the 30th)? Becuase I can't guarantee I'll have the opportunity to ship it out earlier... Lemme know ASAP and we'll go from there.

Thanks!
~Ramy
FDNewbie Imports
I recall responding that I could wait, but the 26th and the 30th have come and gone, and I have no sway bar mount, tracking #, or any other response from you.

Please let me know what's going on - I would have long ago figured I was getting screwed if it wasn't for your great reputation here. I'm still holding out some hope, but paypal only gives 45 days from the date of purchase for me to file a dispute if I want to have a fighting chance of getting my $300 or so back, and that's running out pretty soon here.

In Ramy's defense, he's saving lives and sometimes that comes prior to $300 sway bar mounts..

Give him few more days. He's a stand up guy! He's working 80+ hours a week and trying to help rotary guys..

Thanks for the info - I know what it takes to work extreme hours and I definitely appreciate what he does for the rotary community. I can understand him being busy and I can wait too - I just want to know what's going on. After all, he is running an internet business, and no where on his website does he say that he's currently too busy with his real job to communicate with his customers, fill the orders he's currently got, or even take new orders. So is it really too much to expect some sort of response when I ask about the status of an item I paid for and he said I should have received as of several days ago?

There aren't many people, especially on the net, that I'm willing to drop $3000+ on something that I haven't even seen, or even sure the item is available... but Ramy is one of those people that I feel comfortable handing that kind of money over on his word that said item may be available. My point of it is, yes you paid for the item, but you can rest assure that he'll deliver said item be it a $3 part to those high dollar ones.

We all know Ramy is ah'ight
I just finished taking my board exams and now finals, and Ramy is in the same situation. Life ceases to exist outside of school when you're being tested like this. He'll come through for you when he gets back to the real world and i'm sure he'll make it worth the wait.

Here's something I don't understand:

You ordered a very hard to find part that's located over in japan, and understanding that this can take time, you complain after only about 30 days. Plus, you're worried about filing a paypal dispute with Ramy, who has never screwed *anyone*?

Maybe I'm missing something---can you better explain to me your point of view? Is your FD down and you're waiting on this part to drive it

What I'm upset about is that he has the part here in the US and has had it since at least March 18 but he hasn't shipped it or at least let me know why he didn't ship it when he said he would. I don't think it's asking too much for him to at least let me know that he couldn't ship this in the timeframe he said he could, and then give me the option to either continue waiting or get my money back.

This part isn't holding up any projects at the moment, but I do need to know whether or not he's going to be able to ship it to me, before it does. I can deal with it and be happy either way, all I ask is that he let me know. And in this case, because I know how long and difficult a process it is to get parts from Japan, before I actually ordered and paid for this through him I asked him if he had one in stock, since he lists this part on his website. So given his reputation for slow emails I was pretty surprised when I not only got a fast response but he said that even though he didn't currently have one he could get one to me within two weeks if I paid for the EMS shipping. I wouldn't have bought it if he hadn't said that, because I did not want to wait an unknown amount of time to replace my bent swaybar mounts. I likely would have bought the upgraded ones from mazdatrix instead.

Hey don't worry about it. I've waited longer than you have. Ramy is really busy. Just give him some time.

If not, we can always visit him in VA for a chat. Lol. I could possibly get my car retuned by Steve while I'm there.

Hey Leanne,

A few things...

First, I admit I take a while to reply. But that's nothing specific to you; we're a speciality shop, so practically *everything* we do is painstakingly slow, since it's almost never "in stock" or "on demand." It involves many complicated steps, let alone the fact that it's halfway around the globe, in a different time zone, in a different language. Because of this, I honestly think at times that customers' expectations are a wee bit unrealistic. My TYPICAL turnaround time for most orders is 1 - 2 months, and much of that is out of convenience to the customer, b/c if you want expedited service you really have to PAY for it. Just ask my last customer who I had a 2001 Spirit R pullout airlifted for. OUCH.

Second...yes I said, you'd have it by the 30th. And I'm a bit late on that. But in NO way do I feel I'm late enough to warrant

- An email
- A post in my vendor section
- Hostile (b/c that's what it is) action via a Paypal dispute.

In fact, because of your actions, I now have over $5,000 tied up, frozen by Paypal in my account, which now means I can't pay for the shipping and Customs charges I was scheduled to pay today on a shipment that was supposed to clear. And that only translates to even FURTHER delays for my customers (so Magnus, sorry, your combos are NOT arriving today, as I can't clear the shipment until I have the funds to do so)...

You say that you were worried in one place, but at the same time that you didn't think I was going to rob you of your money. Yet you still (and not judiciously I must say) filed the Paypal claim - without even giving me an opportunity to respond to the email and thread you posted the same day! I must say, that left a VERY bitter taste in my mouth, as I had spent that morning packing up your (and other customers') parts, and even took extra measures to save the original RE Amemiya box for you - something that is much harder to do than it looks, given our consolidated shipping method. And while out on delivery, I get a heads up from friends about this thread. Then to add injury to insult, I see the Paypal action (which I have responded to already btw), and now see I face another problem w/ unfreezing the funds there.

But nonetheless, I apologize if we didn't meet your expectations on this. We do our best to meet if not exceed our customers' expectations, but again, at times, they're a bit unrealistic. This isn't F&F with "overnight parts from Ja-PAN." This is a whole string of complicated arrangements that must take place, each w/ its own intracicies and unforseen holdups (like the Spirit R motor that actually CLEARED customs last week, only to be called BACK by Customs for a visual inspection. Go figure. Not in my hands!).

I'd also like to add that you should *never* do business w/ someone you think will hussle you. But if you DO have trust in us, then there's really no need to take such actions. And FYI, this Paypal dispute will be filed on my account pretty much forever, so ANY time anything else happens in the future, they will not hestitate to freeze my account again, b/c of a previous complaint...all b/c you didn't give me a chance to respond first. I'm not trying to make you out into the bad guy here, but just looking for a bit of reason, that's all. See, you can't even *begin* to realize the reprecussions of simply not waiting for a reply...

Lastly, on top of all of this, I did send the bar over from Japan via EMS, which cost me a good bit of $$, and b/c I was late in shipping it out to you, I had already agreed to swallow that cost. So I'm obviously working w/ you. And now this is what I'm faced w/? I gotta say, if there's anyone that's disappointed here, it's me.

Your RE bar shipped out via Fedex Ground already. The tracking # is in the Paypal dispute.

PS: To everyone else, I really appreciate you guys. Really. Its times like these when I really get a sense of appreciation for the rough stuff we go through trying to get these rare parts to you guys that REALLY makes it all worthwhile. Honestly. So a real big THANK YOU to all you guys

PPS: Noxlupus, you got my email re: the tracking # for your wheels, right? In fact, I think you should have 'em today or tomorrow IIRC?

FDNewbie,

First off thank you for finally replying. And I'm honestly sorry I opened a paypal dispute - I did not know it would cause a problem like that for you - I thought it would have to be a claim to do something like that. From what I read about the process on the paypal site a dispute was just a start at making an official record of communication between us. I just closed it, so hopefully that will fix the freeze on the account right away. If there's anything else I can do let me know and I will try to help - It was certainly never my intent to cause delays or problems like that.

Thank you for letting me know the tracking # and I look forward to receiving the part. You might not believe it, but I really do appreciate your effort and the oppurtunity you provide for us to obtain rare parts from halfway around the world. I admit to being frustrated with not getting a quick reply, but I do feel that if you are seriously running a business, you've got to communicate with your customers better. And it's not just me, how many times does a "Ramy where are you" thread or "how long should I wait" thread pop up? It's one thing to be an indivdual working on the side to help us all out, but it's totally different once you put up a commercial website and make it a business. At least that's how I see it- sorry if it riles everybody up. Your support here is nothing short of amazing, and that says alot.

This is NOT ramys primary job. He does alot with school and such, it can often cause delays, much less getting ahold of the parts first. He will ALWAYS come through, the communication is near as needed when you have someone with perfect feedback. Hope everything works out, you did jump the gun on him.

Ramy don't worry about my lights. The car's down for at least another month. The engine just came out today, and guess what it seems like the engine was not ported as claimed. Heh.

Hope your paypal issue clears up, sorry to hear what happened.

ramy's definitely got alot on his shoulders at the moment. while it can be frustrating from a consumers point of view to not get fast responses, or frequent updates as to the status of an order... i can say that if most any of us were trying to juggle going to school while satisfying and entire COMMUNITIES fetish for exotic parts (let alone have time to eat, sleep, and have some sort of social life) that ANY of us would be the least bit more efficient. and lets be honest here, how many of us waiting for parts have their cars down at the moment? and if not, is the specialty part we're waiting for preventing us from using our cars? i suspect people in that group are in a significant minority here .

personally my project FD has had no motor or interior for 2 years, and the FD that i do drive is just waking up from winter. regardless, i drive my beater station wagon to work every morning and have a storage room in my house where ive been collecting parts and doing nothing but stashing them away like a chipmunk.... yet EVERY day i come home and check to see if there are any updates on my group-buy w/ Ramy . why? its just exciting to get new **** in your hands and most of us cant contain ourselves to patiently wait. the point is, this stuff takes time, ramy is making it happen as fast as he possibly can, and waiting is a bit of the excitement with this whole thing. so.... i propose we all attempt to embrace the wait!

with that being said, im off to bed. but before i leave im going to check my GB for any updates that may have happened since the last time i checked today . oh yeah and big ups to ramy! -heath

Yea, Ramy I got the wheels last night! SWEET! You rock man!

I'll be replying to your email tonight. They didn't come with a center cap, so I'll need to get some. (For the record so everyone knows and don't jump to conclusions; it's not Ramy's fault that they did not come with Center Cap. I assumed incorrectly that they would and inquired about them after they were already shipped.)

Ramy, keep up the good work!

Leanne,

No worries man. Thanks for your kind words, and I appreciate your help in resolving this in a speedy fashion. It came in handy, as I was able to pay for and clear the items from Custom yesterday, and take delivery on 'em So a BUNCH of items are not being shipped (it's gonna be raining parts I tell ya haha), but I'm about to start posting some nice goodies for sale in my subforum

Thanks, and again, my apologies for the delay. My bad on that one.

Not too long ago I purchased parts from Ramy, Rx7store, OwnedPerformance, Gotham, Speedmachineperformance, Pineapple, Pettit, and a couple other random Paypal payments. Most of the orders took, or are taking over a month to be delivered. This is something I have come to accept seeing as the FD is a unique car.

I am more than happy with the Vmount kit I ordered from Ramy, and I already put in for 3 more orders. I highly recommend FDNewbieImports to anyone. Thanks a lot Ramy.

Ramy,

Got the part - thanks! I appreciate it very much, and despite this little bit of trouble, I'd still say your excellent feedback record is well deserved.
