Wake UP JAPAN!

Whats the deal...
Why is the Far East/ Japan forum so weak.
Lets start building up this section of the board. We should form more of a 7's community here.
We should build this area and start forming some meets and bbq's and drives etc of our own. Also lets try and drag some more Japanese guys and gals onto this forum. Do Japanese fonts work? below is a quick test.
日本語をできる?
well if the japanese text showed up then we have all the more reason to bring some japanese people in.

I know a lot of us are busy and things get expensive in Japan, etc but I think we can still manage to work something out.

If you are interested in making the east / japan forum more of a community post up here.

Thanks
Tom

Think shipping between Oki and mainland is $500

cricuit theory- I have been thinking the same thing but I think it is hard for some people to find time bcuz of busy work schedules. I hang out with four locals who all drive 7's but it's mostly just when we go to the track. Where r u located? I will talk to my buddies and see if they would be interested in making an American forum ID. I would have to use my wife's pc to type in nihongo bcuz mine doesn't have it intalled. She might get pissed if I'm on her's all the time Maybe we can get something going though.

Will take pics this weekend. I picked the car up 3 years ago for $6,800 from a local (non-American). The car, then, was in perfect condition and was well worth it. I wouldn't even try to sell it for what I paid now but on the flip side I have put some money in it and wouldn't settle for just any amount. I haven't set a price just yet but seeing that I dumped money in on a FMIC kit and turbo intake kit, Cusco suspension, new clutch recently, I probably wouldn't settle for $4,000. The car has a few minor exterior areas that need to be touched up, I have been trying to make time to toss a fresh coat of paint on it before I sell it and get a JCI done since it expires on Apr 25th. Nothing on the car needs to be altered to pass JCI, it passed the last JCI as is now.

Neil: I am in Saitama about 45 minutes north of Tokyo and about 45 minutes from Tsukuba Circuit. Most newer windows programs have a japanese font capability installed and you can switch between japanese and english fonts with it. It is really easy you just type it out in romaji and it turns to hiragana or katakana for you and then you can also choose from a bunch of kanji if the word you are spelling has one or 50 hahaha.

Trust: You should definately be able to sell the car for over 4000 with it running and with valid JCI or shaken. I am looking for a none runner and looking to spend less than 1000 us for it hahaha so I will keep looking. I know there are a couple out there in that price range but I need to find the best one.

Well the rain is gonna go away for a couple months before june so we should try and organize some sort of meet or drive or bbq or whatever.

I will post more on that later.

That`s cool. My wife is from Saitama. We were going to hit the circuit in March but there are no weekday (less crowded) at Mobara in March so were going to go double in April. Were trying to get together and eat dinner and shoot the **** one night in March though. We would go to another circuit but I am a beginner so they want me to learn more at Mobara before spreading my wings. Mobara has nice big escape zones Let me know when you want to try getting something going.

Hey Neil,
I am going back to California for 2 weeks at the end of march and beginning of April but once I get back I would be interested in meeting up or possibly joining you at Mobara. A couple of D1 and MSC drivers are running drifting schools out here at kanestu sports land once a month if you were interested in participating in that. I think it costs like 7500 with lunch included for the day which is 9am to 4pm I think. I leave March 17th so if you come out for dinner or something before then let me know!

seems like a lot of people are fascinated with the GTR's but I have not run into many gaijin over here that are obsessed or into Supra's. Anyhow I guess having a smaller community over here can't be all that bad cause it leaves us with more parts and cars to choose from hehehe.

Circuit Theory---yeah true, its just a bummer sports cars in general arent around much anymore. Well not like they use to be. I miss my FD, but have no "REAL" plan to buy one here.

YES!

good thread...

I think Dragon and the other guys went over the nopistons. I don't monitor either one much anymore either due to work and other things taking up time coupled with the same old silly questions being asked...and all this fast and furious attention.

I used to live in TX and we had/have a very active 'south' forum on here and used to get together a lot and post about open track and autocross events happening locally. I'd REALLY REALLY like to get on a track......It's been years now....

I finally got my FD to pass shoken and the ridiculous base inspection after many months of mixed-up parts and waiting. Now on to ripping off all this silly-looking blue/yellow paint.....and hopefully finding some stock-ish body panels.

Suganuma,
Thanks for your post. I will start posting up some drift and grip events that are going on. In the near future.

Also if anyone is interested I go out to Tsukuba Mountain quite often on weekend nights and watch some of the drifting and make a couple grip runs myself. I dont want to learn how to drift out there since there are so many other places to learn to Drift but there are usually about 40 cars out there on a decent weekend night and sometimes up to 100 people in the galleries watching.

No there is none of the Initial D battles going on hahaha Thank God.

I know there is a car show at the end of this month near base. I will be going out to Mobara in Chiba twice next month bcuz there are no good track dates for march. I would go to another track but I`m still learning and Mobara has big escape zones for spin outs

This year i believe July 7th 2007 (7/7/07) is going to be at Tsukuba circuit in Ibaraki Ken again same as last year.

Tsukuba circuit and Mt. Tsukuba are in the same general area but are about 30 minutes or so away from each other by car.

I also just ran into some mechanical issues I will need to fix sometime soon. I have not determined which but either my OS twin is going out or my Cusco LSD is going out on me. Could be both actually. I have expected my clutch to go out any time now but it still will break the tires free so it is not completely gone hahaha but when testing the car out over the weekend it did not seem to want to break free on right hand turns which means i have to take that bitch of a pumpkin out and overhall that sucka. Man when it comes to removing the LSD from FC's it makes me wish i had a silvia hahaha. Hmm maybe I need to put a 13b into a 13 make an S13B!!! It's been done I know.

Ok seems like this forum is waking up a bit so lets move from this thread into others.

lata

RussTII,
Aomori!!! what took you all the way up there? After hearing you lived up there I got the idea that maybe your screen name has a double meaning other than your name plus TII. My guess is the second meaning is Rusty TII hahaha get it
Russ T = rusty hahaha ok enough laughing at my own stupidity.

Are your going to come down south for 7-7-07?
