I hope this is not the new phase for the Initial D maniacs. Now they are going to be moving on to my beloved Wangan Midnight.

Kutosan- I am not sure if you are familiar with Wangan midnight but it is an old and current manga/comic series. There have been lots of movies made based on this story.

As far as teams ruling the wangan by the name of "Midnight Racing Team" I am not to sure. I have seen lots of people using that term quite often. I see it quite often on Vans, or K-cars but never on a proper built sports car or anything capable of "ruling" lol the wangan.

Sadly RX-7's do not rule the Wangan. They are duely noted but porsches, GTR's and Skylines rule the wangan and have for quite sometime. I am speaking in general terms though. Some people may say different experiences but in general majority of the top cars on the Wangan would be classified as the cars above.

Wangan is still alive but not so much as before. Most rest stops on the highway are now being blocked off by police at the entrance and if you try to go in the rest stop areas with a modified car they will either not allow you or they will harass you and start investigating what is illegal on your car. Most wangan drivers and or car have to modify their front license plate frames or remove the plates completely. The police know this and so if they see it modified they will ticket you and if they see the plate missing they will ticket you. So at the moment there is not much opportunity to set up wangan runs without exiting the highway which means you have to pay another 700 yen or so to get back on everytime you want to get back on. Before you were able to run C1 all night and just go in a giant circle all around Tokyo without having to pay more than once. The wangan is a different story since the actual wangan highway is a long long LONG straight road. This is where most of the illegal top speed battles go down. There are not any Camera's that I know of at the moment on the actual Wangan but there are a lot of radar camera's and also mechanically triggered cameras on C1 now which make it very hard to reach adrenaline pumping speeds. About 3 months ago I got flashed by a new Radar camera that they had just installed in a tunnel. I finally go the ticket in the mail a couple weeks ago and had to go to meet with the police. I was going 150 in a 80 (kphr no mph). When I spke with the police they were laughing at me and joking with me about how I was one of the first sports cars to get snapped by that camera. Once I had admitted that the ugly dude in the picture was me they started telling me about how they are putting in more mechanicly triggered camera's that can be moved around easily so that idiots like me can't memorize where the camera's are. Oh and for any of you guys in the kanto area. They now have quite a few camera's in the tunnels. I got zapped in a tunnel near Ginza. Well my ticket will cost me about 700 dollars or 80000yen and I will have a 3 month suspension from driving but if I go to traffic school I can knock that suspension down to 1.5 months. WEEEEeeeeee

Hope some of that info helped you Italian guys.

Holy Crap thanks circuit for braking down some of the wangan current events. I'm stationed in Guam now and plan on making my way to Japan sometime soon to see the infamous wangan for myself.

Thats good to know about cameras, but not good for you.

Garage Midnight used to tune Porsche mainly. But there was the one Black FD with RE-Amemiya AD GT body kit. It was boost up and full C1 tune. It was for sale a while back for 4000 000 yen.

Yes the C1 is dead. Daikoku is almost a wasteland. and the Wangan doesn't see many cars these days. But I did see a couple of nice modified Lamborghinis the other night though.

Spoiled by the modern age. But circuit activity has really picked up. Thats where I will be off to.

Probobly a little late to post, but what about other areas of Japan? What about the Hanshin in Kansai? Is it just as bad as the Tokyo/Yokohama/Chiba area in Kanto?

It was dead before I got there. I lived in the kanto for a few years and the crowd had already scattered. It costs you $150 in freakin tolls to go out cruising Tokyo for a few hours...
