Going to Japan (Okinawa) in December

Hey,

I am going to Okinawa Japan in December for 15 days and was wondering if the few that are stationed or live their could give me some pointers as to make my experience more fun and easy!

I will be staying w/ a military friend that has been there for quite some time but I wanna know about sites that would be of interest to cars. Like the used car parts places (upgarage, Autobach's, etc.), circuits or mountain roads that are near along w/ attractions and places that I should make sure I see and experience.

If any of you guys wanna chime in to give a few pointers please fell free to as I'll take anything I can get to try and make this smooth. I'm super excited and have always wanted to go to Japan and this is freaking awesome!

Thanks for your time!

Hey Allen,
I havent been to Okinawa, but I've been to Japan twice, including 6 weeks this summer. You will absolutely love it!!! So will your camera.
First, try to speak the language
eat everthing you can, the food can be very odd but delicious most of the time. Stay away from umeboshi! Unless you like pickled plums of course.
Try to go to an izakaya (traditional Japanese bar)

Be prepared to see tons of skylines and fds. Okinawa might be a little different than the mainland though.
I was on Shikoku island which is really rural so I made friends with the locals. Thats the best way to do anything.
One of my favorite parts of Japan are the onsens (bath houses). They are amazing, I cant imagine how cool they'd be in winter!

Personally, I wasn't impressed with Autobacs. It's all kinda cheesy I thought. Still, go see one. The Super Autobacs tend to have more stuff too. Hit up junkyards and you'll find the craziest, rarest stuff! My whole time there I only found one 1st gen though

Anyway, looks through some books to get an idea of where to go for sites.

Good luck sir

well possibly old/dated data

Go see if RS Circus is still located by sunabe seawall, they used to be the biggest rotary tuner (on Okinawa) back in the late 80's and early 90's. sorry I left Oki in 92 and have been in mainland (yokohama area) eversince the junkyard at the end of sunabe used to get in some cool parts every now and then, but the yard boss (Higa) was an *******, the actual owner thought he (himself) was a **** star though he's probably dead by now as he was always pissing in somebody's oatmeal (iused to work there for a while) the junkyard right outside of the northern back gate of kinser (not the south back, or the 16 gate) used to be real cool and got lots of rotary stuff there is a cool boneyard between kadena and route 58 I forgot the name fo the road its on but they always stocked cars and stacked them at least 3 high...I bought a whole front frame from them once for an SA. speed box used to have lots of turbo stuff, but who knows if they even exist anymore?

O and before the current group of idiots fucked it up, you used to be able to go out any night and get layed by a new girl (18-24) but the last ten years have screwed that all to hell.

Don'tknow what else to tell you other than that camp foster MP central sucks donkey dicks and maeda point has some great places to get busy by the beach
