Coming to Japan
I'll be coming to japan for 3 weeks in June maybe 2 haven't decided yet. I'll be flying into Nagoya to meet a friend...and then off to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and then back to Nagoya or Tokyo. Anyone in these area's i could meet up with? I only speak very little japanese (i'll have 2 semesters under my belt at the time) and i can only read Katakana and we'll be starting Hirigana next year.
Any Recommendations on where to stay in these areas, transportation ideas, tourist spots, car gatherings, good clubs where they love Americajin haha.
I'd like to meet some of you folks too but it looks like alot of you are in Okinawa....i won't be making it out to the island this trip.
But this trip will help me determine if i want to apply for the foreign exchange program my junior year in college and its for Tsukuba University.
Thanks
Josh

two semesters of Japanese and you have only learned katakana?
Were these high school classes, college, private???
I studied a semester in college about 7 years ago and we had to learn both Hiragana and Katakana within the first 3 weeks. You should study a bit of hiragana on your own it will help you while you are here especially because if you can read katakana all you are reading is basically stuff you know in english for the most part.
To be honest I don`t think you will find someone that will have the time or desire to meet up with ya. Think of it this way, if I posted in whatever region you are in that I was going there because I wanted to meet people that liked me because I am "American" or "White" or Black" etc etc. Do you think many people would take me up on my offer and look forward to meeting me? Most guys in the Far east section are not Japanese so meeting another American or Brit or Aussie is not something we wet our pants over.
Everyone likes to talk about coming here or working here or starting a business here, etc etc but it is the same as all the rest of the BS on the internet. Majority of people do not fallow through with what they say so forgive me if I am being to honest but it is better that you plan your trip knowing what to expect.
If you need some info on places to stay or interesting things to see or do shoot me a pm and I can reply with some links or something when I have time!

College classes (my Nihongo Sensei is from Tokyo)
i just Aced Japanese 101 with one of the highest grades in class.
I've only had 1 semester and learned Katakana next semester (will be my 2nd semester) we start Hiragana and some Kanji.
I have a pen pal that is going to be doing some travel with me while i'm there and translating.
I don't expect people to get excited about meeting me...i was just curious if there are any meet's i could drop in on.
I'm more interested on where i should go what i should see and where i could stay like you said.
