God gave me a very steady hand (knock on wood). It's payed off over the years working in a mold shop and having the need for handwork.

Yes, I did. I stacked the deck by using stainless rod. 410 to be exact but a 300 series would probably been better. I just didn't have it on hand. The lower tendency to oxidize is in your favor. The fact the lower ferritic content makes the bonding to a bastard metal like a nickle (really, not that much nickle in them anymore) that much easier, is a plus also. I've successfully stuck nickle rod and high nickle stainless (300 series) and Brutus rod, to non-ferrous metals like beryllium copper and bronze for repair purposes. Though, if I had to do it again, I would use the new TIGable bronze fillers. They're sweet and, if the work is preheated properly, can be used on steels.
