Riccardo,
The last compression I had measured was around 7.9-8.2.That was about 20000 km ago.
Since then the motor felt like running almost the same.
Only change was a whistling sound[sfyrigma]above 5000r/m.I can't really tell where it's coming from, there are some corrosion holes in the last part of the exhaust[teliko],but it doesn't seam to come from the back.I heard that it may have to do with the injectors never been cleaned[77000 km].Any ideas?Any tel of Petros or Makedonas?
Ace,what did you do when your car was flooded? And how can you tell if the motor is blown? You know with all this uncertainty about Wankels? Can it just die while sle
eping?
I've been wondering about the coolant level droping .I'm not shure ,if,when the coolant was recently changed, the heater was turned on after the refill...It seemed in my last trip to PILION not to heat very well..
Just guessing here,and hoping....
Dont'want to think about an engine rebuilt, not at 77000km,in a well cared for car...
Thanks guys!!
You can find more details about Rotary Beat and Petros here: www.rotarybeat.gr (although the site seems to be down at the moment )

The whistling sound could be a number of things: leaking BOV, cracked turbo housing, leak in the intercooler piping, leak in the exhaust etc etc. Really cannt tell unless you check with a stethoscope.

To diagnose a flooded and/or blown engine really quickly -the ghetto way: take out EGI fuse, remove spark plugs, put your hand over each of the holes and crank engine.
a) If you get three even "whooooshes" you are OK. If you get a "whooosh-shhhh-shhhh" then engine is blown.
b) If you get enough fuel on your hand to actually smell the gas, then the engine is flooded. In this case, you might want to consider new plugs. A seriously flooded engine will short-circuit the plugs REALLY quickly, and the engine will NEVER start. Exact same thing happened to me. Thought I had blown the engine, but after I checked it in the way I described, I got good compression. So I just bought new plugs and I was on my way

The engine cannt just die while laying dormant. It can seize however due to sitting too long (for, like, years). However, its nothing a little ATF cannt fix

If the car is loosing coolant, then its either of two things: either you are burning coolant, or you have a leak. First thing is easy to diagnose, but difficult and expensive to fix. The second is difficult to diagnose, but could be something very easy and cheap (like the heater hose). Smell the exhaust gases to see if you are burning coolant, and replace all the cheap tubes. Pressure-check your pump and radiator. Only thing remaining are the rad hoses and the thermostat housing. Check those and you're done

I just installed A Blitz BOV the one with the trumpet/hornet.

here is a url from ebay with the bov:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...item=2459396972

This Bov is supposed to be loud (one of the loudest in the market) but mine is very quiet!!!!

It has a screw on the top that i think is adjusting the sound. The guy who installed it unscrew this screw almost complete but i barely can hear a sound that sounds like a whistle.

Can anyone tell me why this bov is so quiet on my car???
What should i do to make it more loud????

I thank you in advance.

Hi everybody!!!
Good news is that the car was badly flooded.Something probably went wrong with the alarm, and that's where the problem started from;Anyway as you mentioned ACE,cranking and new spark plugs did the job,so, thanks for all your help.
Ever since, the engine seems to start and run as it used to,so smiles are back in my face...
Sorry I'm so late to post a reply but I could not access the site for the last week.

So, one by one, they emerge!!!!!

I knew there were a lot of guys with RX7s in Athens, but you hadnt shown up until now.

Welcome to the forum!!!!!

And no, a RX7 club doesnt exist in Athens, but you can always drop by Petros and meet with other people with RX7s.

Thanks guys!!
...and after a year I decided to see what on the European forum...what a mistake...hehehe
I agree with the idea of the club!!
Riccardo all the parts-apart from the T04B- came from Jun Auto Mechanic in Japan and sometimes I had to wait for more than 2 months for the parts to arrive...!!!
Here is an old pic of my car.

Riccardo, I got my RX7 from a nice girl (!) from Pireus. It is all stock, exept its rims and tyres. It has some nice 17in wheels...
About the club: I am thinking of making a nice Greek site about the car we care and drive. It will be ready in about 2 months (I am moving to a new house and I have a few time spare, now.
After that, if we gather alot of people, why not, make an RX7 club, just like the Miata club of Greece.
Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Thank u
Kostas

Your mods are great man!!!!!I am really jealous!!!!
I need to see your car!!!!!!
I have a white convertible....
We really need to meet man!!!!!
How old are you????Where do you tune your car????
Is there any good mechanic in Larissa????

Guys the idea of a Greek RXclub is really great....
The owners of Rx8s will want to join too...
I really want to participate.

The RoraryRevolution in Greece BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My so quiet blitz bov has start to scream!!!!
I think that the spring was stuck or something like that.

And a question.....

One guy told me that if i spray the inside of the bov with a spray that i use to lubricate the chain of my motorcycle then the sound will be louder...is this true???
Is it safe to spray this thing while tha motor runs???
Is it safe for the intake???

I do hope that it's time for an Rx7 club in Greece...sometimes I was ready to join the Miata club..hehehe
Erevos I am 29 and a friend of mine has a garage in Larissa where we installed all the parts...but, the most important thing, the tuning has been done by a Cypriot who specialises in Japanise cars...he came all the way from Cyprus and, of course, I paid him for tuning the car and everything...
I never thought that I might find Greek people in the site(silly me....) and I was always surfing in other sections of this site.
Erevos don't be jealous...from the time I decided to modify my 7, I had to wait toooo long for the parts to arrive and be without a car....But, thank god in 1,5 montn I'll be in the street again...when the car is finished I'll let you know in order to meet man!!!

Talking

Riccardo, you are the man! (ur correct)

ok ok. I see maaanyyy people enjoy the idea for an RX club at Greece. But we need more. Anyway, give me 1,5 month to build up a nice, smooth site for RX(X).
We all waited so long, a couple of months wont be too long . After that, with a home for our selves and our vankels, we can discuss a REAL club.
I bet ALL RX friends will like to join a nice effort.

Ok. Lets see some tyre set ups... So:

Question: What tyres you have at your RX7?

Mine:
17/45/235 front
17/40/255 rear
Dunlop

Personally, I believe they are way too wide for my stock engine (202hp dynoed). I am aiming for the Pirelli Roso 225/f and 245/r (still too wide but... I have time to change them again)

Any suggestions, opinions, are welcomed!!!
thank u

I have 225/45 16 Toyo Proxes... I don't like them and I might go for Continentals or Pilot Sport..maybe I'll have some 245/40 in the rear..
In case you wonder how come I have 16'' wheels I tell you that I like a bit of drifting and a low low ride..even thought it's not the best for our perfect roads.
