No idea when that will happen. I know it's going into a FD. I guess it's not decided yet wether it will be turbo or not because the owner was a former rotar engine builder for Mazda racing Europe. back the he made a quite similar set up like the 787 intake (with sliding trumpets) and last time I talked to him he was keen on finding the owner who bought the parts when the team stopped using their FC for racing.

So I guess he's thinking about going 3 rotor NA with it. It will be in the Walon version of the Belcar when it's finished.

Should Iask them if they still have the remains of the front clip for spare parts?

Cosmos in Europe

Hi all.

I just wanted to comment a few things.

There are several more than 2 Cosmos in Norway. I would estimate about 6 rollers, and another 2-3 partscars.

Second - Get the RE-Amemiya ECU. It is great, and makes alot more power than the stock. Gut the cats too, at least the tiny precat. It really applies alot of bad backpressure and heat.

And check your boost control lines, as they are surley shoot and could lead too boost-spikes and engine failure.

Enjoy your Cosmo.

Ciao

As far as the RE-amemiya ECu; the car will remain stock. No need for more power.
The pre-cat is already replaced because when i'm gonna import the car, the inspectors have no clue what the emissions should be
The car and engine are getting a full inspection/tune-up this winter, but thanks for the warning.
Only mod that is gonna take place for now is a boostgauge, just to check boost.
I'll proberly go for placing it in the passengerside of the daschboard, behind the plexiglass, same looks as the milage counter.

Greetings,

Mireck

Hi Mirek.

The Re-A ecu is just as much for reliability as it is power. Once the backpressure from the cat is gone, it is fairly normal to have boost increase (boostcreep), and the stock ecu cannot handle it very well. And not removing the cat causes massive heat build up, and that is not good either.

I guess I would recomend porting the wastegates on the twins to keep boost spikes down if you decide to stay stock ecu. But you are missing out. I was like you at first, but the re-a makes the cosmo really fly, and with the gone cats, your engine is actually less strained maiking more power.

2'nd - Get your coolant lines changed. The small ones under the inlet are prone to scred, and when they do,heat rises fast. Heat-Rotary=no good.

Ciao

Cosmo in DK

Hello guys ;o)

Just wanted to tell you that we have the first Cosmo in Denmark ! and it is actually for sale, I have been out driving it and it drives very well and is in good condition. Unfortunately it is the 2 rotor 13B version, but that is maybe good enough for some !

It is a fantastic car I think.

Hi guys! I have now 3000 km on my 93 Cosmo and ejoying every minute of it! I made some observations of boost curves stock. Cruising and pedal to the metal it is as follows in bar: 0.5-0.3-0.4-03 bar. Quite interesting though RX-7 FD has 07-05-07 bar. Best 0-100 km/h is present 6.84s. More to come...

I know of 1 in Belgium, 2 in Germany, 2 in Norway and 1 in Russia, so together with your one and mine that would make 8 Cosmo's in mainland Europe.

Good luck with the Cosmo, i'm sure your gonna like it!
Last week I spoke a German who had imported about a dozen Cosmo's himself.
He spoke of 25-30 Eunosses in Europe...

BTW, Mireck20B, it's nice weather out there.
Maybe it 's a good idea to go out for a nice Cosmo photo-shoot in the park...

Smile Cosmo 13B

Hi

It was my Cosmo Rene has taken picture of, but it is sold now.

But there is a 20B on its way home to Denmark. It should land here in the end of November.

It is a 1992 with only 92.000 km on the clock..

It should be as stock as it could be, but there is some ugly aftermarket things on the brakes and speeder pedal...

I will come with a status report when it has arrived..

Hi Mirek.

I have a set of mint 16'' type S wheels. Make an offer on PM.

These are just the weels, and no tires.

Sorry, i've got a "E" type, i'm not looking for a S type wheel
But i might go for 16" , i also got Atiwe and S5 GTU TII rimms as an option.
All things like ET/Backspacing, bolt pattern ect are the same as FC only thing different is the centerhole for the hub, it's larger than FC's so i will have to get that enlarged.

I want to keep the stock look, so i'll proberly go for the 15"BBS cabrio rimms or the 16" multi-spoke S5 GTU rimms.

The Cosmo is in its wintersleep now, so i won't be working on it until spring next year. Only photoshop the wheels onto the car

Greetz,

Mireck

Those of you who drive the Cosmo regulary: is it possible to use it as daily driver? And what about fuel consumption? I'm a relaxed driver in daily traffic, so I'm looking for those figures, not for those of a drag racer How about child seats? Would they fit? And would a 13B version be more economic, or wouldn't it make that much difference?
I *might* be in the market for a new car next year, and I'd prefer a rotary one. However, when you have kids, there's not much choice. FD's are too small, my Ro80 won't be ready in time, and if I buy another car, it'll have to be be RHD anyway.

ofcourse you can use it as a daily driver, it's very smooth ride, your babies will fall asleep within 100 Meters

But you will have to accept the 1:9 on constant highway driving (11L/100Km)
or 1:5 or 1:6 on carefull citytraffic driving (16-20 L/100Km)

The Cosmo is very heavy and you will use the first turbo almost always to get it moving, once moving the weight is no real issue anymore.

My Ro80 will do 10 (highway, carefull driving) to 20l (city) aswell, as far as I can believe the people who have experience. I'm already prepared for that
My main concern is fitting safety seats: as far as I know there are only lap belts in the rear?
There are other cars on the shortlist aswell, but the Cosmo has the edge by being rotary powered. Others I'm tempted to consider are Land Rover, Jaguar XJS-V12, or Morris Minor Traveller. All very different, but all with there own reason.
Well, I'll have to wait untill the end of the year anyway: if I stay in Belgium I won't need another car at all.

The Cosmo is in its wintersleep, and you know, never wake up a bear in their wintersleep.....

It's stored together with my 1980 12A Bridgeport trackcar and my 1981 Elford 12A turbo, it's not really possible to take some pictures now.

WOW... I have now driven the 20B.. I love that car. It has so much tourqe from only 2000 rpm. There is a big different from my former Cosmo, who had the 13b.
I now understand why they are using the 20b for big hp..
