Needs some advice, travaling to Berlin

Well I will be going to Germany for 2 weeks for work and for a small vacation. Well I will be staying in Stugart for a week then the last week I'm wanting to go around and see Germany and all its sites. The first place I'm wanting to go is Berlin. Well my boss is telling me that I should take the train to Berlin then to use the buses and taxis to get around. Well i'm thinking I should just get a rental and drive to Berlin. Hes telling me that it really hard to find parking in the city and that gas is realy expensive.

So what should I do Train or Car?

If you are about to spend most of the time within city, then public transportation would be probably better. If not, then get a car.
