3,800 RPM hesitation?????

Ok...Let me try to sum up here...When I got my FC it had been sitting for about 2 years. It's in very good running order except for a few minor things here and there as to be expected with a 16 year old car. When I first got it, the small amount of gas that was in it was, of course, not very good. I put some fuel system cleaner in it (the good stuff from the shop, not the crap you buy at the store.) and gave it a couple of full tanks of gas to work out all the gunk. I then changed my fuel filter. So the fuel system should be good, barring a whole fuel system replacement. So anyway, to get to the point here, around 3,800 RPM theres a slight hesitation, kind of like if the fuel filter was stopped up real bad and the engine was starved for like a split second. I thought for a while that it was just the crap comming thru the lines and it was just a coincidence that it happened to always be around 3,800 (like maybe that's when the turbo was comming on or something). So now I'm like 4 or 5 tanks past when I put the cleaner in and it is still happening. I did a little research and didn't find much, but I did find one thing that said something about a bad ground from the battery to the block. It said that once you regrounded it, the problem should stop. Since I found this information I have been at work and haven't been able to regound the battery, but I was wondering if anyone else has heard of or had this problem. The post I read made it out like this was a common problem (like the flooding or the stupid idiot lights), but this is new to me. Any help here (*cough* Higgi...Mireck) would be great!!!

P.S. Also...if anyone happens to have a rebuilt 13BT with 3mm apex seals, a small street port, slightly larger injectors and a rebuilt stock turbo lying around their shop that you want to get rid of....shoot me a pm

P.P.S Hey Greasemonkey or maybe Army of one.....Do you know anything about that drivetrain that Aaron (gold FC) has for sale? Any why doesn't Greasemonkeys phone work anymore?

P.P.P.S. Could this post possibly be any longer?

Have you checked your TPS?
There's a nice how-to somewhere on the forum (written by Aaroncake I think).
It's very easy to do. All you need is a screw driver and a multimeter.

Seriously, not to be an ***, I suggest that you give the 2nd gen forum a thorough search.
There is tons of threads and solutions on this problem

I did search the 2nd gen forums and found alot of stuff about this problem.....for 86 and earlier FC's. I know that there are several simularities between the year models, but I've got a 1989 turbo II and I was trying to find the fix for that particular year and engine. And it's entirely possible that I just missed the thread that had what I needed, but I guess what I'm wondering is if there would be any difference between the N/A fix and the turbo fix. Really I was hoping that someone here (with a 1989 turbo II) had this problem and could tell me what they did to fix it. Also I guess I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to have to remove my intake to fix this problem.

Thanks Higgi!!!! That was exactly what I was looking for. I just don't trust random people on the forum to actually know what their trying to talk about. I just wanted some solid confirmation. Higgi Rocks!!!!!

I know Josh had told me someone was selling an engine but I never got to see it. Instead of buying a rebuild why don't we just street port an rebuild yours? It will cost only half as much and you will actually know what you have in the engine. 3mm not necessary, bigger injectors are doable as is the new turbo. All for less than a rebuilt engine plus the parts. Call me.

Yea rebuilding my engine is definatly going to happen, but this is the deal.... I just sold my spare car and I have to rely on my RX to get back and forth to work so it makes me real nervous to pull the engine and rebuild it all within the 2 days I have off every week. My plan was to have a spare everything (engine, drivetrain, etc.) by the time I'm done. I wanted to buy a rebuild to be able to just swap out and then be able to take my time and do the rebuild on the original engine myself. That way there's no real down time for my car. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy that drivetrain from Aaron even if it's not in completely good shape cuz he only wants $400 for it. And then I could rebuild it as well. And about the apex seals...I know the 3mm aren't necessary, but if I'm gonna rebuild then I might as well beef it up. I would rather err on the up side than the down side ya know? Also, if I could get Mireck to email me back I know he has some rebuilt engines laying around his shop, but he seemingly dropped off the face of the planet and hasn't emailed me back yet. He also has like every single little trim piece you could ever want btw!!!! Anyway long story short, when it comes time to swap or rebuild or whatever, I will definatly give you a call. And what happened to Josh's phone btw, he's not down range is he?
