Where did you mount your ECU ignition related wires?

I cant really see where I could run these wires. It suggests routing the same way as stock, but the stock wires come out on the drivers side.

I dont really want to run them across the front of the engine...

Whats the largest plug connected to the ECU for? Maybe I should bust out the FSM...

do you mean for the cas? i would run them with the =engine harness like they did with the 89+ up cars. either that or splice into the original ones at the ecu plug

For what? Is that where the 3rd plug that is removed from the ECU goes?

Does the ECU control the A/C?

the ecu does ground the ac. the ecu plug that goes to the car (not the engine harness) has the coil wires in it.
sorry if that wasn't clear

Thanks. In the Haltech manual it has a section on ECU interrupt, but how would I keep my A/C? If theres no way to keep it I need to know now, so I can rip that crap out.

you need to look in the fsm, but i think you are going to end up grounding the ac/ ecu wire

Hm, had someone tell me the only thing the ECU controlled was the A/C interrupt, and the logicon controlled the rest. Sweet, now all I need to do is wire it into the A/C wires.

That was me. Having a standalone AND A/C is a beautiful thing that I wish I had.

Yeah I know it was you, I just try not to name people, cause I dont know if they would want me to.

Plus, you dont need A/C, you got a drop top.

Trust me, if the A/C looked like it was going to get in the way of any future intercooler pipes, it would be ****** gone.

I dont even know if it works. If it does, or just needs a recharge, great! if it needs alot of work, its goin in the trash.

Being a convertible doesn;t help. My exhaust pipes get so hot that it's ALWAYS hot in my car, even when it's cold outside.

So what you're saying is that i can run the wires needed for my ignition through the stock wires? this is for my Haltech of course. I have taken out the engine harness, but i don't know what to do with the remaining harness that's in the car. I too NEED A/C. It's hot in texas. So someone throw me a freakin bone here. and please easy on the jargon.

Im going to run my wires along the lip on the firewall. Some people blab about the heat, but with my downpipe being jet-hot coated, and wrapped with header wrap, I think the underhood temps will be lower than usual. Im also running the Haltech wires to the coils, not using the stock wiring. Im trying to stay away from it as much as possible.

You'll need part of the engine harness if you want to keep your stock water temperature gauge, windshield wipers, and cruise control.

How do I keep the cruise control? And the wipers? Do they get wired into the last harness thats was plugged into the ECU? Im not worried about the water temp gauge, im getting an aftermarket one.

The plugs for the wipers and cruise control are part of the engine harness--fuel injectors, etc. That harness has 2 plugs that go into the ECU. I like to take apart the stock harness and just keep what I need. You just have to follow the wires to figure it out.

So then, I have to keep the old ECU to run them? I know which harness theyre part of, the one I just sold. Looks like ill need a junkyard donor. My question is, where do the wires go? So they splice into some other ones that were part of the big plug that ran to the ECU?

So i DO need the stock computer to run the Wipers. Because i have an aftermarket water temp gauge and I'm chucking the cruise control....The FD R1 can do without it and so can i . But i can't live without the wipers.

No, you don't need the stock ECU to make them work. Follow the wires and you'll figure everything out.

You DO NOT need the stock ECU to make the wipers work. The engine harness also plugs into the rest of the vehicle's wiring, not just the ECU. If you take apart the harness and follow the wires you'll see how it works.
