When to upgrade the ECU?

I've read and heard a lot about upgrading the ECU. It seems confusing as to when the right time to upgrade the ECU is.

I have a Pettit SS downpipe, Racing Beat Dual Tip Catback and manual boost controllers installed and a Pettit Cold Air intake on order.

Is it time for the ECU now or should have i already gone too far with the three mods?

along w/ that air/fuel meter, stop by a chevy dealer and pick up a 3 wire O2 sensor to give you a better, more accurate reading. if i rember right it cost me about $45
