Whats the word on the Greddy E-manage?

Hey everyone. After doing quite a bit of research and what not I have come across the new greddy e-manage. Now I know it is very new so I wanted to see what the dirt about this unit is here in the forum. My initial plans were to go with just a Haltech F5 AIC, but that left tuning the duty cycle of the other injectors out of the question. After reading the specs for the Greddy unit, I am pretty much sold. It has everything I want. I just want to know what people in the forum are saying about it.

I do have one question. Does it wire up similar to a Apexi AFC, or does it have its own connectors to patch it in between the stock ECU?

It looks like it wires in like an SFC and an ITC, if you go to their website, they have it, but no price for the software, it says see a greddy dealer, I was told about 3 weeks ago, that Greddy is only giving the software to dealers that had chassis dyno's and only they were to tune the car, not the car owner which is really lame, why sell a tuning device and not allow people to tune their own cars, I assume its Greddy's idea of exclusivity, and keeping its dealers handy, I would buy it today, If I was sure I could get my hands on the tuning software, as there are not to many greddy dealers that I would trust to tune my car let alone dealers that actually have a dyno... didn't apexi do that to people with their fuel commander?
IT would be the hot damn, I agree, I am having a hard time deciding between the haltech and the emanage, but if they don't have software , its haltech for sure..Max

I've seen prices around $400, but that's probably a bare unit. That's a really good price for a A/F/I computer, but my guess is they get you with the dealer-only tuning later. How many people never change the setup on their car? Especially people who have aftermarket computers...

Now, if they release the software, or someone nicks it, or someone figures out how to interface from a laptop without the proprietary software (unlikely unless they sell a billion of them), then it could be a big deal.

It looks from the ad copy like they use a basic fuel map system and if you pay more they "upgrade" the software to a fuel/air/ignition map of some complexity - like it's a very capable unit that they "dumb down" and you buy an unlock code for the better features.

In short, we need someone who has one to say what it's like, I just read the ad copy. Anyone?

Actually, it is only $310 from Rxecret7.com. BUT I did even more research, I called 3 different greddy dealers, the greddy software is not for sale and all said the same, $150 per hour for tuning. **** that, I do my own tuning, if I purchased the e-manage, the only thing I would be able to do is adjust the duty cycle of the existing injectors + or - 20%. my main reason for even considering the greddy unit was that it had the ability to tune the stock fuel system AND ACT AS AN ADDITIONAL INJECTOR CONTROLLER, but to even enable that feature, I have to pay some dipshit money to tune it with their "PRIVELEGED" software. I was going to just use the additional injector controller for a while with minor tuning to the stock fuel system, I would have liked to use the pressure sensor to eliminate the A/F meter, but im not even considering this product.

Just because of this proprietary bullshit I will NEVER PURCHASE A GREDDY PRODUCT. I was going to make this my first, but any company who tries to pull that bullshit gets abosolutely no respect (or business) from me.

Yeah, I'm finished with my rant now.

The software (if you havent read the latest threads) is now available for $100-$120, depending on who you get it from.

yea, i dont know why those people do suck a stupid ******* thing, i dont think they know how much they are hurting their sales. I dont mind paying the 100 extra forr me being able to tune my own car after all that is what a EMS system is for, user fine tuning. If you need one of those software and cable packets I can get them..

On another not for people interested in the Emanage I recomend looking at the next few things. The best way to purchase the Emange is with the follwoing things

Fuel Injector Harness (2 injectors)
Boost Pressure Harness
And Support Software.

BTW there is a place offering the software with the emanages and he has duplicated the harness which is not a bad idea. With have the injector harness you can accurately conrol the secondary injectors with the support tool whick is ******* excellent. It also compensates for larger injectors. This way you can push your car to its limits with correct fuel tuning. I can even do the Fuel system on a 20b!!!!!!! Here is the Guy that sells the support tools if you buy an emanage from him, his pricing is pretty ******* good. I hope this helps people because I want to see more people using this computer as there will be more maps available. If anyone wants to check out the supprt too software so send me an email greg@fcpower.com ill send it too you.

Here is the sute

So what are the downfalls of this compared to a full standalone(haltech)? I mean the emanage does ignition and fuel only, right? And the haltech does boost(not very well from what I've heard) and is a turbo timer as well right? Does anyone know if you can have like to different settings(fuel and ignition maps)? I want to be able to run as low as boost as possible and then have another setting to run like 12psi.

There is not comparing to a Standalone. The emanage alone will control air flow signal only. With the Injector harness you can control 2 injectors weather they be additional or 2ndarys ( I recomend using the 2 injector controlls to control the 2ndaries and let the ECU control the primaries as the 2ndarys are more important to control under boost). The other option is using the emanage to intercept the Air flow signal and use that to control your fuel and get the ignition harness.I believe that its a one or the other deal meaning, if you CAN NOT control the 2 injectors and ignition at once (dont quote me). I think the stock ignition map is fine up to a good amount of power. If you plan on making big power I would definately recomend a motec m4 pro or a haltech or something along those lines. I would also like to see more rotary owners using the motec systems. Its time for change......

What would you consider big power? I am not sure where I want to end up, but 12s in the next year or so and 11s eventually. Whats that, 350-400rwhp? WIll the e-manage be good for that with an electronic boost controller?

I think that if you are looking for 400rwhp then you should go with a standalone ecu. I am only looking for around 275-300 rwhp so thats why I chose the emanage. The control over the injectors is good for probably around 500 rwhp assuming that you are using huge 2ndarys but when you get higher in horsepower you want to adjust the timing and with the emanage you cant have the injector wiring harness and ignition. A standalone unit is definately the way to go for bigger HP. Do you have a FD?

So your saying I can't control the ignition and fuel at the same time with the e-manage?

No you can definately control both but with the ignition harness you can only alter the airflow signal rather than being able to control the 2 secondary injectors get what I mean. So when you have the ingnition harness you can only modify the fuel by changing the airflow signal (which is not bad). But Id rather worry about accurate fuel delivery rather than controlling ignition (im not looking for that much out of my car (275rwhp)

So when you have the harness on to control the 2ndaries you can't do anything to control ignition? Hmm, I am just looking for an upgrade better than the s-afc. I have heard a few negative comments about it. My immediate plans are 720cc injectors & full exhaust and 3" TID along with my current mods. I want to run around 10-12psi. After that I am going to have my turbo upgraded and add a fmic and boost controller.

Well, if you plan on upgrading the intercooler and turbo later might as well get a standalone system now. If you are looking for something better than the AFC Emanage is the way to go.
