Upgraded ECU with NOS?

I have an 88 N/A & was wondering about doing both an upgraded ECU & NOS together. I remember hearin sumin about not doin NOS with an ECU that is not stock. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I would think that it would be easier with an aftermarket ECU. I saw an article in a mag. recently where a person did this. He was able to run a dry N2O setup because he could control the extra fuel that was required with the aftermarket programmable ECU.
I imagine that you would be able to run N2O more safely with an programmable ECU because you would have full control of fuel and ignition. If you were to run a wet system with the stock ECU I think it would be more dangerous because all you are really able to do is put in a predetermined amount of extra fuel.

What about with the advanced timing? I heard this can cause detonation.

That is why it would be safer to use a programmable ECU. Because you will be able to retard the timing when you have the N2O turned on.

That is true, but my initial question was for an upgraded ECU only, not an aftermarket engine management system like haltech. I am sayin like where they reprogram my ECU. Thanks.
