Supercharged, carb'd 20B ECU

Hello, I am new, as you can see. I am unsure whether it's mandatory to introduce yourself in the intro forum, I couldn't find info on that. If it's not mandatory, I would rather not go through the trouble of introducing myself.

Anyway, I would like a twincharged carb'd extend ported 20B. I have contacted a company who can do all the upgrades and strengthening, but I don't know exactly how to go about supercharging and carbing.

I know this will be extremely expensive and very complicated, but this is my dream car and I will not give up on it easily.

So I was looking for the best roots supercharger to use (chosen because they are supposed to be the loudest type at the same psi). There is probably not one that is the 'best' to use, but recommendations on the most reliable roots would be much apprecated. This is not a pure power build, power is almost irrelevant (under stock 20B levels is fine), just sound and the driving experience. I will be using the stock twin turbos for the turbo counterpart.

To go with that, I would like it carb'd. Primarily because it sounds great at idle, but also because it might match up well with a supercharger? I read that to install a supercharger you would need a custom efi anyway, so in this case a carb might not be ludicrously more expensive? So which would be adequate for low power, but the most reliable (or at least from a known-to-be-reliable brand). I appreciate that carbs may be less reliable than efi.

Finally, to be able to tune the engine on a conventional modern dyno (yanno, using computers and stuff), I would need an ECU. It will probably be hard and expensive to find one for a carb'd 20B, but I'll be patient. Can anyone give me recommendations on what ECU to use?

I have done some research, but all with conflicting answers. I posted on the engine management forum to ask about the ECU, for which I needed to explain about the carb and supercharger. Seeing as I was already mentioning these, I cheekily thought I'd ask for advice on those as well. If required, I will happily move the first two requests for advice to a different forum.

As I said before, this is my dream car, I appreciate this is may cost more than £50000 and many years to complete this build, but I am okay with that.

Thanks for all your advice in advance,

Sam

not sure why you want carb when EFI is so much easier these days.

But there are a few SC 20B' about. quite a few down this way in NZ. Heads of info on their forums and ausrotary.
just one for example.

Thanks for the reply Havoc,

The main reason why I want it carb'd is because of the sound, I simply can't get enough of how good it sounds at idle.

Also, I'd have to get a custom efi for the supercharger anyway, so that's how I'm convincing myself hahah.

Yes, I have seen that RX-4, looks awesome. However, it is not twin-charged (they replaced the turbo chargers with the supercharger). I imagine twin-charging is a whole different ballpark compared to supercharging.

Thanks for the info nonetheless .

Anyone else?

I've seen plenty of supercharged builds, a few carb'd builds and unholy amounts of turbocharged builds (thanks Havoc, your build looks awesome).

However, I still need info on twincharged builds.

Does anyone know the best ECU to use when twincharging and doing a carb conversion?

What about the best roots supercharger to use, the most reliable that is? And why?

Best carb to use (for reliability and high rpm use)? Why?

Prices?

Any comments/advice are welcomed : ).
