standalone .. best buy?

So I've been saving up for a standalone and well here's the question ... what is the best one for someone on a tight budget
I have a 87 TII with a 2.5" RB exuast and a S5 turbo with a ported wastegate , and boost controller and removed emissions
thanks

megasquirt is probably the cheapest but you know what they say about the cheapest, some people swear by them but i still don't see people flocking to it just yet. my personal choice for the cost is the microtech LT8 - it is a real basic standalone but it works!

I was thinking about playing around with a megasquirt in my 13BRE vert because I see them readily available for low price on the forum and on eBay (fully built)... But I havent decided on it yet... On my last swap I used a Haltech that I got for the low, low... and I have been thinking about microtech but I keep getting mislead and I cannot find one that is still in warrenty (unless I pay retail price, which I might just do).

the LT8s is $840 from microtech direct, that isn't all that expensive.

keep in mind all prices on their page are listed in Australain currency

I don't recommend it to anyone on a "tight budget".

There are dozens of authorized MoTeC dealers in the U.S.A. as listed on their website.

Wow those are nice, but yeah the price... my pockets are not that deep not yet anyways
I think I'll end up going with a used microtech if I can find one

LT8 is the ****.... Very simple to set up and comes already preset with the proper base map, that **** runs like a champ with it... Wire it in, setup the tps, start the car and drive... Its really that simple.. Im a diehard MT fan.

The LT-8 is like running an electronic carb, with similar adjustibility . If you haven't used a better ECU then it seems great. That being said; I'd still take a Microtech over an SAFC.

better ecu in terms of what? Sure motec is better, but not everyone goes out and puts a $3-6k budget for an ems only.. As far as driveability, basemap, ease of tuning, and ease of using features 4 the price MT>all...

BTW what do you mean by that?
