stand alone ecu? or that and stock ecu?
stand alone ecu? or that and stock ecu?
i am a bit confused on what a stand alone ecu does, i know it allows you to adjust your engine but i wanted to know do you use it with the stock ecu or does it totally replace it, the reason i ask is cause i have removed all of my a/c under the dash and am cutting the wires out, the car needs to be streetable (working blinkers, wipers, tail lights ect.) i just dont want all the crap like a/c wires in the way for when i work on it. so really my question is what exactly does the ecu control besides ignition timing and engine components, and do i just add on a stand alone ecu. thanks info would be great.

You replace the whole stock ECU with a stand alone. The stock ECU only controls things associated with the engine, BAC, ACV, timing, fuel, emissions stuff, so when you pull the stock ECU you will still have full control over the A/C, blinkers, radio, etc..
oh ok gotcha thanks man muchly appreciated, i was pulling things like blinker relays and stuff like that out and started wondering just what exactly the ecu worked. thanks again
