Power FC or Pettit Unlimited??

I have a pettit intake, downpipe, and cat-back. I want to get one of these ECU upgrades. I am definately going to do further modding. Midpipe, intercooler, larger secondaries, street ported-moter and turbos(when time is ready). Are there any differences? What is better for my route?? I know these mods with 12-14psi can lead to 330+RWHP. That is as far as I would like to go.Thanks!!

It really depends on what you want to do with it...either should work with those mods. The PFC gives you the ability to tweak things, which can be good or bad, depending on whether or not you know what you're doing. The Pettit modified ECU is cheaper, you don't have to worry about messing with anything, etc. The PFC reportedly makes the car run super-smoothly, then again some cars have problems making their AC work properly with the PFC (unless a real fix has been discovered?).

One of the things detractors from the Pettit ECU will tell you is that you have to have them burn you a new PROM every time you add mods...this just isn't true. While you *can* put your car on a dyno and tweak the programming to get everthing just right, most people do not, and unless you're squeezing out every last fraction of a horsepower, its not worth it (and you'd have to do the same thing with the PFC too in that case, i.e. tune it on a dyno). The programming in the two or three base programs offered by Pettit is generic enough to cover a wide variety of modifications.

I went with the Pettit ECU. Would I trade it even-up for a PFC? If it was tuned properly, etc etc sure, why not. But at least for now, I didn't feel it was worth the extra cost, and the Pettit ECU has been plenty good enough for my limited mods (intake, dowpipe, street port).

Thanks jds.. I just got off the phone with Chad who works at Pettit and he also recommended a boost controller with the ECU. Obviously its for turning the boost levels to what you want. I know not to go beyond 14psi. Is this asking for trouble? I really don't drive the car hard but it would be nice to know I have the capability. I am also going to do a midpipe, radiator, and smog kit removal. Eventually(6 months) a large intercooler and ACT clutch kit.

you answered your ques in your original post...if you plan to run above 14-15 psi on stock fuel system your better off with the pfc, the pettit cant handel the larger injectors, you cant get a map for them. where as the pfc can handle the larger injectors.....either on is great..i had the pettit unlimited, and loved it but i exceded the stock fuel system...now its time to go haltec.....

Yeah I am starting to lean towards a power fc...Why not learn it instead of having to switch from pettit's to something else anyway. Also would not need to spend money on boost controller..Thanks!!

nice ! glad you could understand my attempt @ typing...

pfc is great..
the way i look at is its better to have and not need than need and not have pfc is fine for most ....as long as you dont ever plan on runnin more than 17.5psi...then you need haltec...but thats a whole nother thread in the pfc forum...
