Power FC or AEM?

Ive searched and didnt find my answer.

I know all the reasons to get the Power FC but Im wondering why people dont have the AEM? is there something wrong with it or are you just going tried and true? I mean both are about the same price so what would compel someone to get one over the other.

Thank you.

I chose the AEM because of the capability it has. Automapping, knock control, boost control, egt feedback, dozens of outputs for shift lights, nitrous, etc... internal datalogging at up to 250x a sec, I could go on and on. With the power FC, your hands are tied in a number of ways. To me, the AEM was alot easier to tune. I tuned my car in less than an hour on the dyno. I couldn't tell you why more people aren't getting the AEM. Apparently nothing new can be as good as the old stuff.

i decided ont he aem also.....it allows for more flexibility...if you are not going crazy on mods the the pfc may be for you......but i chose the aem for everything it can do the pfc cannot.......

I personally don't think you can really go wrong either way. I liked the features of the AEM a little better, and there are local tuners familiar with the AEM to help me out, but not with the PFC. If your are new to EMS's then I would suggest finding out what your closest rotory expert is most familiar with, and go with that.

you can do so much more in terms of tuning with the aem than the fc. Id go with the aem.

Tell us what your plans for the car are, and we could probably give you a better answer.

Hey, I just want to say in advance thanks for the replys.

Anyway, My plans.....

I want to have a solid 400rwhp car. Give or take. Its not like i wouldnt be happy with say 380 or something but I wanted to go this route.

DP, Exhaust, Intake, FMIC, Boost controler, Upgrade fuel system, I wanted to go with the BNR stage 3 setup, then start cleaning up the car. start to fix things that needed to be fixed. Figure with that much power things are going to start to go. Thats what im wondering here, which is a better choice, if there is one. I dont want to pull every last HP I can by leaning it out. Im not looking for the biggest numbers, just good ones.

I figure if you had a line between lean and rich I would like to be on the top 75% of it like so...

Lean|--|--|----|rich
(i want to be in this area)

So tell me how im a retard for thinking this or tell me im dumb for wanting to do that and get me on the right path. I want to have a soild car here. something I can be even more proud of than I already am. So tell me the story morning glory.... I can take it.

Thanks everyone!

Hank

Shouldn't you fix the things before you up the HP? If you have a slight problem before heavy mods like that, it will turn into a big problem sooner especially when you are talking about 400ish horse.

The car is fine now. But like you said, 400ish hp things can start to go wrong. But the car is tip top.

Is the EAM EMS a generic ECU that can be used on any engine or is it specific for the FD/13B-REW?

It is specific for the FD, and a few other cars from The Fast and the Furious, but will not work in the FC, FB, or SA. There were plans for a universal unit called the AEM Race, but it has yet to be produced. The specs and applications are on the AEM website:

Bah! I found it. The link was conspicuously hidden in plain view.

Thanks.
