ecu for 3rd gen for the non-techno savvy people?

I have no clue what to get in terms of ecu. I know there is the haltech ek6 or something like that and I hear good things about it, the other is the apexi power FC with commander at the rx7store. I dont know how I would program them nor what the interfaces look like... I mean is it hard to learn what to do on it, or is it simply choose the mod you did on the ecu thingy and it will adjust it accordingly. Also I heard the pettit Ecu upgrade was the best for people who just want to leave that kinda stuff alone. Please give me reccomendations or advice on what I should do.

also, at rx7 store, they say that their pfc is programmed for 100 octane gas...does that mean I have to run 100 octane all the time, because that would get a tad expensive..

thankyou for any help in advance

You might be better off getting your stock ECY remapped for higher boost and fuel etc. M@ and Pettit do it as well as some others. Its easy and you dont have to fool with it at all. Not to mention it makes a big difference without the trouble. It wont make as much power or be as versital as the Stand alone ECU's you mentioned but it will be easy. The next step up would be the PFS Purple piggy back or the Apex PFC stand alone. The Haltec and TEC3 units are for the "techno Savvy"
