in car dyno's / ???opinions???

hey, i'm interested in purchasing a g-tech pro comp. that in car dyno and time monitering thing, and i was just wondering if any of you have had one or have tested one before . i think it would be nice to have some kind of general horsepower figure without having to search all over to find a dyno. so your input would be greatly appretiated.

I have heard they work very well for that kind of work, just don't use it to tune your car You will also need to have your car weighed accurately someplace.

I bought one of the original G-Tech accelerometers a few years ago. It works very well for tuning. In fact, all of my friends use it for tuning their cars, so I haven't seen it in a while, lol. It's best for street tuning transients like acceleration enrichment, while a chassis or engine dyno is better for the initial tuning of rpm and load bands. The acceleration time function is very handy for making tuning, suspension, and drivetrain adjustments or trying out different shift points prior to spending time at the drag strip. The horsepower calculation function is more of a gimmick than a useful tool, and I would not recommend it if that is your only concern, as a nice dyno sheet with full hp and torque curves and maybe corresponding AFR and/or MAP data is far superior.

Here is a past thread on the subject:
