Boost settings for PMS
Boost settings for PMS
Hi I just got a new 3rd gen with the the following mods.... PFS Intercooler, PFS downpipe, Borla midpipe, Apexi dual N1 catback, Aluminum AST, PFS PMS with keypad. All of these mods were put on by Peter Farrell pretty much all at once for the previous owner so Im assuming that he tuned it for these specific mods. I have the boost controller set at the low setting right now. With these mods can I change this to medium or high without damaging the engine? Should I take it to a shop and have them check out the fuel maps first? Someone help me out here.
in theory (THEORY!), there should be 3 different maps for the low, med, high settings. In THEORY, you should be able to click from low with something like 10psi, and then go to high (at 15psi) with no problems.
All you are doing is selecting a different fuel map and raising the boost.
The easiest thing to do is to review the settings with the controller. If you are unsure about using the controller, you can download the instructions from the PFS web sire (i think... if not, try the EFI web site, or check into wade's web site, he might have it there)
If you are unsure about the numbers, write them down and post them here and myself and others will comment.
Although the unit should be tuned and you should have no problems, better be safe than sorry. if the previous owner seemed like he knew about the car/understood things, etc... you are probably safe. If it was just some random person who seemed like they didn;t really know about the car, i'd wonder.
