Autronic SM4 and 500R Mounting Solution

As a precursor to getting my car totally buttoned up, I made a mount for my ECU/ignition box today. I thought some of you might want to see it, considering I have yet to see any pictures on the net of how people have mounted their SM4s. If any SM4 owners have any comments, I'd like to hear them.

I mounted everything to a steel plate. The plate is going to be mounted on rubber shock-mounts and then attached to the passenger firewall.

Since the 500R's attachment points are on its sides, I used 90 degree aluminum bends, cut to length (~7 inches) and then riveted to the plate underneath.

The steel plate is 16 gauge, so there was enough meat to tap it, and get the M4 allen head screws to thread into it. You can't see it in the picture, but there are washers below the SM4's aluminum attachment plate. This sandwiches things to the steel, which prevents things from moving.

I'm not done tuning it yet, but the install was straight forward. All sensors in the engine bay are new.

What dealer did you purchase from? Are running the oil metering pump off it?

autronic ecu's come with coolant and air temp sensors, you don't have to use them as you can configure the SM4 to use any sensor you like but i would recommend using them as most of the time the included sensors are of much better quality. Air temp sensor for instance has very fast response time and linear output..

Sm4's can be configured to run stepper motors so yes you can control oil metering pump.
Sm4's have very flexible outputs so you can basically control anything you want however you want. All tables have freely selectable values/parameters. you can make tables with any input the ecu sees and have that do anything you want.

Also the Autronic CDI is one of the the strongest cdi on the market.
I have used them on 1600+hp 6 cyl's, 2000hp v8'sand 900+hp mazda's.
On a 2 rotor you will only need one box and you'll be able to run seq ignition.
You'll fire thru methanol (very rich mixtures) and ton's of boost and never have a misfire issue.

If any of you guys have any questions feel to ask me. I have installed/tuned sm4's on any application you can think of. My latest project is going to be on my shifter kart. 125cc 2 stroke. Should be interesting...

As Enzo said, the dealers supply a Bosch coolant temp sensor and an Autronic air temp sensor. The coolant temp sensor bolted in, and I had to retap the hole for the IAT. I picked up an Innovate LC-1, but I haven't started autotuning with it yet.

I ended up buying mine from the only dealer I could find that would support me with a self install (who ended up being out of the country). Enzo, are you now selling units for self installs?

I'm not running an OMP; I've got an S4 TII.

Sm4's were sold as dealer only installs in the beginning to make sure everyone was installed properly.

I remember when you called for one i was still testing on an fd.
